Dear Bard Families,

Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year! I look forward to working together to fulfill Hueneme Elementary School District's vision of inspiring and empowering every student to thrive daily.

Visit our school website, https://bard.hueneme.org/, to see news and upcoming events and to find relevant school information. You also need to download the Parent Square app to receive real-time school announcements. Please stop by our office; we'll gladly help you set it up.

I want to introduce and welcome the following members to the Bard family. Deborah Ward will teach First Grade, Samantha Gonzalez will teach grades 1st- 2nd special day class, Nuri Quintino will teach 2nd grade dual language(Spanish) and Lynz Mullany and Lacy Nickols will teach 3rd grade.

We have the cool news, the installation of school wide HVAC system is expected to be completed by the time school begins but it will take a couple of weeks to fully cleanup the school campus to it's original state. Importantly, our students and staff will learn comfortably as we head into this school year. We appreciate your understanding and patience during this past year's construction disruptions.

Parents will be allowed to enter the campus for the morning drop-off and afternoon pick up for the first three school days, from August 21 to August 23. As of August 26, all parents must drop their children off at the front, back, or side gates. Any parent wishing to enter campus at any time of day must sign in the office and have a previously arranged appointment with the teacher. Campus supervisors will be assigned to all areas where children will wait to go to class in the morning and the afternoon when they are dismissed.

We are thrilled to have secured a Bard PTA (Parent, Teacher Association)Board. Welcome Natalia Martinez, president; Bexy Gomez, Vice President; Nancy Mpeh, Secretary; Rochel Villanueva, Treasurer.

The major factor of a successful School's PTA is having community volunteers. If you are interested volunteering or need more information of being part of this important committee, please get in touch with our school office for more information at 805-488-3583.

Aug. 20: TK-K Meet and Greet from 2:15-3:15pm/ Your student's teacher will contact you with more details.

Aug. 21: First Day of School @ 8am

Sep. 02: Labor Day- No School

Sep. 03: PTA Meeting/in the school lounge

Sep. 10: Back To School Night @ 5:45 pm -Title 1 and PTA Meeting and 6:00-7:00 pm Classroom Presentations

Oct 10: Fall Picture Day

Please support our effort to keep our students safe by respecting the no-parking areas. The front drive through is only for student drop off. Please be informed, citations will be issued if your car is left parked and unattended.

When picking up and dropping off your students at school, ideally, we would ask that you park on a side street or in the school parking lot and walk your student to a school entrance.

Rear Parking Lot: If you drop off or pick up students at the side gate of the rear parking lot, please stay to the right, nearest the yellow line at the fence. Staying to the right will allow other vehicles to exit around those vehicles still waiting for their student(s).

Lillian Drive Gate: The gates at the rear of the Bard playground is available for student pick-up or drop-off. The Lillian Drive cul-de-sac is staffed during pick-up and drop-off times and is significantly less crowded. It is an excellent pick-up and drop-off area alternative.

IT IS NOT SAFE AND IT IS ILLEGAL TO PARK ON PLEASANT VALLEY RD DIRECTLY OUTSIDE OF THE KINDER CLASSROOMS. There is plenty of parking in the school parking lot, and it is much safer.

If your child is absent, please call the school and report the absence to our attendance clerk. To excuse an absence, please bring or email doctor's notes or necessary documentation to the school office.
