On Time, All the Time!
Hillside Families:
Thank you for making the extra effort EVERY DAY to bring students to school ON TIME!! This has been a tremendous effort for many, and our students benefit. Classrooms begin instruction at 8:30, and students, for the most part, have been in place and ready to learn! We want our Hillside Tigers to get every, single minute of reading, math, SEL, social studies, science, and everything else we teach!
Mrs. Bailey will NOT be out the next several weeks with her tardy cart, so please remember to park and bring your student inside to the office if you are tardy. They will have you sign the student in. Thank you!
Important iPad Information for Westside 5th and 6th Grade Families
1. As in past years, 5th and 6th grade students have the optional opportunity to take their Westside iPads home to use for school-related work.
2. If this is NOT something you want your student to do, you may ignore the rest of this communication.
3. If you DO want your student to be able to take home their iPad, there are two important decisions you will need to make ahead of time:
• Decide if your student only needs to take home the iPad or if they will also need to take home a charger. It is important that the iPad be charged up when it is brought back to school each morning, but if you already have an Apple charger with a Lightning cable there may be no need to take a Westside charger home and run the risk of losing it.
•Decide if you want to participate in the optional (not required) Cooperative Loss Program. Participating in this optional program can help protect you financially in the event that an iPad is lost/damaged when it is out of your student’s school building. The cost for participating in this optional program is $25 (or $12.50 for a student who participates in the Free/Reduced Lunch Program). A link to details about the Cooperative Loss Program may be found on the iPad Take Home sign-up form.
4. Going forward (again only IF you want your 5th/6th grade student to be able to take home their iPad)….
• Log into your Parent Powerschool account.
• Select your 5th/6th grade student.
• In the lower left corner of that page, this icon should be visible:
• Clicking on that icon will take you to the form to complete. Please read the form and the linked documents carefully before completing and submitting. The linked documents include guidelines for care and usage of the iPads as well as additional information about the Cooperative Loss Program.

Behavior at Hillside
Social Skills and Behavior at Hillside
Hillside's philosophy is that students deserve to learn social skills right along with academics. We want our students to learn how to accept feedback gracefully, how to regulate their emotions appropriately, and how to negotiate skillfully with peers. We are committed to helping all our students to learn and grow academically, socially, and emotionally.
Tiger Pride Day
Our Tiger Pride Day was a success! All our Hillside Tigers learned about behavior expectations at Hillside, safety procedures, our brand new Tiger Ticket store, and the new construction happening at Hillside. We hope this was a wonderful experience for our students. We know they learned a lot!
