National School Lunch Week, October 14-18
President John F. Kennedy created National School Lunch Week (NSLW) in 1962 to promote the importance of a healthy school lunch in a child's life and the impact it has inside and outside of the classroom.
While the weeklong celebration, held annually during the second full week of October was declared in 1962, the National School Lunch Program goes back even further, back to 1946. Created to provide nutritious meals to children from low-income families who might not otherwise have access to a daily meal, NSLP ensures the health and well-being of all public school students, boosts academic performance by giving students the fuel they need to succeed, and closes the opportunity gap for children across the country. Today, the National School Lunch Program serves nearly 30 million children every school day. Not only does it reduce childhood hunger, but it also supports American agriculture.
Sophomores Take Part in FOCUS at The PAC
Last Thursday, Sophomore students participated in FOCUS at the PAC in Appleton. FOCUS stands for:

- Others are affected
- Clear distractions
- Understand that substances impair judgement
- Safely reach your destination.
Homecoming Festivities
The theme this year was Board Games (Seniors: Life; Juniors: Candyland; Sophomores: Clue; Freshmen: Chutes and Ladders). Students dressed up each day of the week, decorated the halls, built floats, performed skits and ditties and held their parade. Here are some of the creative outfits from students and staff!
The week continues Friday night with the Homecoming game against Campbellsport and caps off with the Homecoming Dance on Saturday night in the high school commons.

Dill Pickle Autopsy
Mrs. Whitney’s Anatomy and Physiology students practiced their dissection techniques and anatomical terms in the “Dill Pickle Autopsy “ lab.
A “gang fight” between the notorious Vlasic and Claussen gangs resulted in several unfortunate casualties!
Students were tasked with performing an autopsy to determine the “cause of death “ for their pickle victim. Students completed an official report of their findings including proper terminology and sketches.
Thank you, Hydrite Chemical Co!
This week OHS was selected as Hydrite's monthly Day of Giving. They collected and donated classroom supplies for the teachers!

Music Department Apparel Shop is Now Open!
Our Music Department apparel shop is up and running! This shop is open today through next Tuesday, October 22. Order from this link: https://omroschooldistrictmusic.itemorder.com/.
*NOTE: The Middle School Uniform shirt (Badger Tonal Blend Tee) is under a category called “Middle School Music Uniform”. We wear these shirts for our concerts (with black from the waist down) , field trips, and other events throughout middle school. The logo says MUSIC so that the shirt can be passed onto a sibling whether they are in band or choir. It is my hope that most middle school students will order this shirt to have for our events. I do have a limited supply on hand for those who will need to borrow one.
Each clothing option (other than the uniform shirts) has an option for MUSIC, BAND, or CHOIR on the logo. Just make sure you are careful in ordering the logo you want on it. You will also note that the apparel shop is divided into sections for youth, women, and men/unisex.
We hope you are able to find something to show your Omro Band or Music pride!
