📧 Gmail Transition Reminder
The transition to Gmail for staff accounts will take place on July 1st, 2024. Our goal is to migrate all data from your Outlook accounts to Gmail, including emails, contacts, and calendars. Below, you will find detailed information to help you prepare for this transition.

- Shared Calendars: Only the owner of shared calendars will retain permissions post-migration. Owners must regrant user access to shared calendars in Gmail.

💬 National Speech-Language-Hearing Month
May is National Speech-Language-Hearing Month. This is a time to raise awareness about speech and language disorders, which are among the most common disabilities that school-aged children experience. This is also a time to help all students, no matter how they communicate, to feel included in their school community.
More than 1 million children nationwide receive services for speech and language disorders each year through the school system. Left unaddressed, speech and language disorders can affect a child’s academic and social success. Speech-language pathologists (SLPs) in schools work with children who have differences in a variety of areas including speech sounds, spoken and written language, stuttering, social communication and many more!
Whether or not you know a child (or adult) who has a speech, language, and/or swallowing disorder, it’s important for everyone to reflect on how we can be respectful and supportive to those who do. Give a person time to get their message out, focus on what a person is saying rather than how they’re saying it, and never bully someone for how they communicate.
Thank you, PfISD SLPs, for working with students and improving their communication skills!
🍕 Pflugerville ISD Food Services Offers Free Summer Meals for Children
Pflugerville ISD and Aramark Food Services are proud to offer open community lunch to children this summer through the USDA summer meals program. Summer is an exciting time for children to enjoy playtime with friends, a week at camp, a family vacation, or time at the pool. However, for many children who receive free and reduced-price meals at school, summer can mean hunger. Just as learning doesn’t end when school lets out, neither does a child’s need for good nutrition.
This summer, Aramark Food Services will be providing free lunch meals to children at select Pflugerville ISD campuses. Any child under age 18 may come and eat and kids do not need to register (or be registered in a summer school program) or show proof of age, income, or residence to do so. Visitors are asked to sign in at each school’s front office or Extended Day Program check-in desk for security reasons.

👏 Shoutouts from Students, Parents and Community members
Cindy Oldham-Ybarra of Riojas ES (via: Deborah C.)
We’ve had such a great experience with Mrs. Ybarra this year. She has been amazing about supporting my daughter in subjects where she is struggling. In addition to academics, I appreciate that Mrs. Ybarra recognizes the needs of each student. When my daughter has been frustrated or overwhelmed, Mrs. Ybarra has offered comfort and reassurance. But she still continues to challenge the students to meet and exceed goals. Thank you for providing a fun classroom, great memories, and preparing the students for 3rd grade!
Mrs. Rebecca Diaz-Ancira of Murchison Elementary (via: Stephanie R.)
Mrs. Diaz-Ancira has been an incredible 2nd grade teacher this year. As a teacher communication skills and updates are consistent and keep us informed and engaged. My son has looked forward to every day of school this year. It's hard not to want to call all the Murchison teachers out for their incredible dedication to making school an absolute blast for the kiddos. There's so much that Mrs. Ancira has done throughout the year. I feel bad not giving her a shout out daily! Personally I loved the live caterpiller pets. My son loved to tell us about their transformation to butterflies and ending with a release party. All of the holiday parties she goes above and beyond to decorate her room, but this time Mrs. Diaz-Ancira really outdid herself and put together an amazing Knowledge Camp setup that completely transformed her classroom. The videos and photos she's sent us have just blown us away with how much work and effort she put into this project. Just wanted to give her the biggest shout-out and thanks for all the amazing work she puts into giving the children the best possible experience. ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
Mrs. CHAVEZ of 3rd Grade Brookhollow Elementary (via: Orlando Marquez)

Mrs. Herring is the most kind, patient and caring teacher! She has taught my daughter so much, not just in her lessons, but in confidence and character as well! She has encouraged and instilled amazing values that I know my daughter will keep with her through her life. Thank you for Herring for being such an awesome teacher!
Emma Barnes of Riojas (via: Deanna Clemens)
Ms. Barnes is a wonderful speech language pathologist. Not only is she highly skilled in helping the kids grow in their speech needs, but she makes them feel good about themselves and their progress. She is excellent to work with from a parent point of view with collaboration and strong communication. We know she is moving out of state next year and we will miss her. Than you Ms. Barnes!

Ms. Hinojosa is an exceptional educator who always brings warmth, joy, and genuine passion to her teaching.

Ms. Shipley skillfully fosters collaboration among her students, assigning classroom responsibilities that ensure everyone feels valued. My daughter takes pride in her assigned roles, and it’s clear that Ms. Shipley’s kindness, adaptability, and commitment to diverse learning styles set her apart as an exceptional teacher.

Please keep doing what you do and continue impacting the lives of our children! The world needs great teachers like you! Thank you!
Ty Raymond of Cele Middle School (via: Shannon McCarty)
My son absolutely loves Mr. Raymond's class! It's rare for a teacher to keep students engaged and excited all year long, but Mr. Raymond has managed to do just that. I've heard nothing but wonderful things about him from my son. His class has also inspired my son to think about new possibilities for his future, which I sincerely appreciate. Great job, Mr. Raymond!

She is an absolute hero. We were so lucky to have had our daughter in her care for 1st grade!

Abigail Flax of Murchison Elementary School (via: Jaimie Krause)
Everything about Ms. Flax is above and beyond -- I knew it on day one during "Meet the Teacher". Her classroom was filled with the soft glow of lights and calming music (Taylor Swift instrumental of course); she cares deeply about cultivating a space for her students to thrive -- at their level. Examples include hosting Camp Learn-a-lot with tents over desks to celebrate end of year and attending weekend sports events to cheer on MES students because they wanted her there, and more. My daughter Josie LOVES her. Thank you for a GREAT year. <3

Miss Sarah Tolentino of Hidden lake elementary school (via: Nivashini Narayanan)
Miss Tolentino helped the kindergarteners in class to learn the important social factors of living together as a community. I’ve seen a great improvement in my child’s willingness and ability to extend support to those in need. Overall the love for learning is a daily process and I’m thankful for Miss Tolentino to have been the first step of my child’s academic life.

· Reese Weirich of JCES Principal (via Jennifer C.): Ms. Weirich's middle name is ALL IN. Parent with a dead car battery in carline? Reese has jumper cables and is already hooking them up. Kids need a boost? The whole hallway in the Admin area is lined with Brain Break kinesthetic stations because she creates a culture to meet kids where they are and help them self-regulate. She is all OVER the building--but at the beginning of the day you'll find her standing near the front doors saying good morning to everyone (in case no one has told them yet). She values her staff and shows us by seeking our input, giving kudos and caring about our health and our families. We are ending year 3 of crafting our new school community, and Reese with her ALL IN modus operandi is the mortar between every brick. Thank you for your steadfast leadership!
