PickUp Patrol Reminder
Dear Parents and Guardians,
As part of smooth and safe dismissals, we kindly remind you to review and update your student's PickUp Patrol plans regularly. Your attention to this helps us ensure every student gets home safely and on time.
Key Information:
Changes to PickUp Patrol plans can be made through the PickUp Patrol website or app, daily until 2:00 PM, except for Wednesdays, when updates must be submitted by 12:00 PM.
Any plan changes made to the PickUp Patrol website or app after these times will not be included in the pick up plans our teachers receive at the end of the day.
If you need to make adjustments to your students plan and are unable to access to your account, please contact the Salish Coast office. Lainie and Lacey can send you a “welcome email” to access your PickUp Patrol account.
Listed below is a step-by-step guide on how to use PickUp Patrol.

Substitute Paraeducators Needed!
Salish Coast is currently seeking dedicated and compassionate paraeducators to join our team. Paraeducators play a vital role in supporting student learning, assisting teachers in the classroom, and fostering a positive and inclusive school environment. If you enjoy working with children, have a passion for education, and want to make a difference in young lives, we would love to hear from you! This is a rewarding opportunity to be part of a vibrant school community and help our students succeed.

Highly Capable Student Referral
Do you know a student that is showing the learning characteristics of a highly capable student? The window for staff and parent referral is open until Feb. 28, 2025. All students in second grade will be screened using the Cogat Screening tool, and each fifth grade student in Port Townsend School District will be re-considered by a multidisciplinary team. Please see the characteristics of a bright child vs. a gifted child below. The information about the process can be found on our website here.
Salish Coast Elementary is being recognized for high growth in ELA proficiency rate and high ELA and Math SGPs by one or more student groups for the 2022-2023 school year. Recognized schools like yours make great strides to improve outcomes for students by closing gaps and showing tremendous growth and achievement.
Lost and Found
Our lost and found is overflowing!
Please feel free to check it out before or after school if you believe your student is missing something.
Thank You!
Family Bingo Night
A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for Salish Coast Elementary’s Family Bingo Night! Your enthusiasm and energy made the evening truly special. We loved seeing families come together to share laughter, enjoy friendly competition, and celebrate as winners claimed their prizes.
A special shoutout to our amazing volunteers, staff and local businesses (Imprint, Rose Theater, Strange Days and Velocity) who made the event possible—your hard work is deeply appreciated! Thank you for being part of our school community and for helping make this event such a success. We can’t wait to see you at our next family event!

Staff Features
Meet Arti
Before joining our school, Arti worked in the maintenance department for the Port Townsend School District, but his heart has always been with kids—he previously taught 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade. Now, he’s thrilled to zip around helping students and teachers in grades TK-5.
In his free time, Arti enjoys writing songs on his guitar, foraging for wild edibles, or mountain biking through the forest. Fun fact: he can ride a unicycle!
His favorite thing about working with kids? Their endless curiosity and imagination. This year, he’s excited to build connections with as many students, teachers, and staff as possible and be a part of our wonderful community.
Meet Mitzi!
"Before joining Salish Coast, I worked at Hudson Park Elementary in Oregon, gaining experience in Special Education, Reading Intervention, and Kindergarten classrooms. My passion for working in schools began during my time in the healthcare field, where I loved interacting with kids and was inspired to switch career paths.
I’m most excited about getting to know the students—watching them learn, grow, and become amazing little humans is what drives me! Outside of school, I enjoy hiking, camping, reading, and spending time with my family. We love going on nature walks in our forested neighborhood.
A fun fact about me: I love sailing! My husband and I learned to sail on a 19ft West Wight Potter in Portland.
This year, I’m looking forward to all the fun classroom activities and crafts. Working with kids is always an adventure—you never know what unexpected hilarity or kindness they’ll bring!"
