Target Time Begins on September 18th
Walnut uses a significant amount of its Title 1 grant money to fund additional credentialed teachers on campus. These teachers help us achieve a low teacher-to-student ratios when providing small group intervention, enrichment, and targeted academic skill-building. Teachers have gathered pre-assessment data for all students and will meet later this week to form K intervention groups and Target Time classes. All students in grades 1-5 participate in Target Time 3-4 times per week, depending on their grade level. You will receive a letter that shares the focus area and teacher for your child's Target Time group for Session I. Walnut runs three Target Time sessions each year, and classes are re-formed each trimester based on progress-monitoring data. The goal of Target Time is to provide a targeted small group environment where each child can take their English Language Arts skills to the next level. Teachers include our classroom teachers as well as Mrs. Mello, Mrs. Patterson, Mrs. Ange, Mrs. Kazmirchuk, and Mrs. Frazier. Math intervention is also provided throughout the day. Feel free to reach out to your child's teacher or to Mrs. Wall if you have questions.
