SCHOOL UPDATE
SPECTATORS AT EVENTS
If your child wishes to stay to watch one of the games hosted at Plum Grove, they will go from their 9th period class directly to the gym. If a student leaves the school they may only return to the game with an adult, and the adult must stay with them at the game. Students that are spectators will leave with the activity bus unless they have a ride home and can confirm this with the staff supervisor. All students must be picked up at the end of the game,.
If a student wishes to attend an away game as a spectator, they must have an adult with them at the game. Students may not be dropped off at away games, the adult will need to be able to stay the duration of the game with the student.
NEWS FROM OUR PE DEPARTMENT
With the weather starting to change, now is a good time to make sure your student has an extra sweatshirt and pair of sweatpants that they can leave in their PE locker to wear on cooler days. For students with earlier PE times in the day, extra gym shoes is also a good idea as the ground is wet with dew and shoes and socks do get wet some days
LOST AND FOUND
Is your student missing a water bottle, sweatshirt, school supplies, or other items? Please have your student check our Lost and Found, which is located outside our Main Gym. Our Lost and Found is piling up with lost of unclaimed items. In two weeks, any unclaimed items will be donated to the Community Closet.
REMINDER FROM OUR NURSE

Students must have their required immunizations into our nurse by October 15th. The State of Illinois requires that the Health Exam be taken within one year prior to the first day of school. Please visit the Health Service page for more information. You can email our nurse at talleye@ccsd15.net. HOMEWORK CENTER
homework Center is after school on Tuesdays. This is for students who want a quiet place to complete homework. Students work independently with limited assistance available. This is not a club but a place for students to work after school before going home for the day. Students can be picked up or take the after school bus at 3:45.
CELL PHONE USAGE
As we prepare to welcome students to the new school year, I want to emphasize the importance of creating a focused learning environment for all students. To ensure that our classrooms are conducive to learning, the expectation is that cell phones must be kept powered-off or silenced and out-of-sight during the regular school day. Please review the student-parent handbook for additional details. By following these guidelines, we can create a positive and productive classroom community where students can fully engage in their education.
MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS
District 15 is hosting a mental health awareness program. Our district is combining the Mental Health presentation for parents with Ascension on October 15th.
VETERANS DAY
Our staff is beginning to plan some activities for Veterans Day. We are reaching out to our community to see if there are any veterans that would be willing to be interviewed by some of our students. This interview would be recorded for our student body to watch during Veterans Day. We would also like to construct a Wall of Honor for the families members of our community that have served or are currently serving in the Armed Forces. If you would like to have your family member highlighted on the Wall of Honor we are asking the following:
- Send in a picture of your veteran
- Provide a brief description of the veteran that includes their name, the years they have served, the branch they served with and their rank.
- We would like to received those photos between October 22nd- 29th
We will display the Wall of Honor the first few weeks of November. The photos will be returned to the students after November 20th.
