Northwoods Families,

I hope you had a wonderful weekend! As we prepare to enter the last full month of school, please know that we will have a lot happening at Northwoods, and there are several opportunities for parents to volunteer. As always, please read through the information and updates below, and please let me know if you have any questions.

Additionally, I am thrilled to announce that we achieved our goal of raising $25,000 for our annual PTA fundraiser! We are excited to replace the basketball hoops on the playground this summer, and hope to make additional improvements over the next couple of years. On behalf of the Northwoods Staff, I would like to thank you for supporting our school!

Fifth Grade End of Year Celebration News!

5th grade families - it's not too soon to start thinking about the end of year celebration for our soon to be graduates! We need your help!

First, the 5th grade planning committee is collecting photos for the end of year slideshow shown at graduation. Every student will be featured in the slideshow with their 5th grade school picture. We also hope to include a picture of your child starting elementary school (or around that time frame). Please send an email to northwoods5th@gmail.com with the following information:

• Student Name
• Homeroom Teacher
• Age of student in photo
• Photo of your student around age 5.

Please send no later than January 30th!

Second, the 5th grade planning committee is coordinating with the school to create a memorable celebration at the end of the year. Northwoods PTA is generously contributing to the cost of this celebration, and we are starting to fundraise for the remaining amount.Families can contribute towards the fund by scanning the QR code above or by clicking on the "5th Grade Activities Donation" button below.

Non-Returning Family Survey:

Parents of current Kindergarten - 4th-grade students who are not returning to Northwoods for the 2025-26 school year are asked to complete this survey so that we may begin planning for future staffing needs. Families of rising 6th graders DO NOT need to complete the survey unless their child is transferring out of district or state.

Spring Pictures:

Spring pictures have arrived! If your student had their spring photo taken, you'll receive a photo package in their backpacks later this week. You have until May 16, 2025 to decide from the following options:

• Purchase the Entire Package ($49): Submit payment online and keep all photos. Send your payment confirmation to school to avoid follow-up requests.
• Purchase Part of the Package ($13-$39): Submit payment online for the photo sheets you want to keep and return the unpaid sheets to school with your payment confirmation.

• No Purchase: Return the entire package (all 7 sheets) back to the school.

*If you choose to pay with cash, please send the exact amount only. Change will not be provided, and overpayment will be considered a donation.

Field Day:

Mark your calendars! Field Day is scheduled for May 23rd. In the event of inclement weather, we will move the events inside. If there is inclement weather, a call will be made the day before. The schedule will remain the same, students will move through stations throughout the building.

Field Day Volunteer Sign-Up Link:

We are in need of volunteers to help run stations for Field Day. If you would like to volunteer, please use the volunteer link to sign up and join the fun!

End-of-Grade Testing Schedule:

End-of-Grade testing is right around the corner! To help you plan ahead, we have posted testing dates for each grade (3rd-5th) on our website, and I've attached a flier with testing dates for you. Please remember, all 3rd-5th grade students are expected to participate in EOG testing. The state is no longer approving exemption requests for travel purposes.

EOG Hallway Monitors Needed:

EOG Testing is right around the corner and we are looking for volunteers to be hallway monitors. If you are interested in volunteering as a hallway monitor during end-of-grade testing, please sign up below no later than Friday, May 9, 2025. There will be a Volunteer/Proctor Training on Wednesday, May 14, 2025 at 9:15AM in the Northwoods Elementary School Media Center.

**All volunteers are required to undergo a WCPSS background check for the school year. Volunteers will need to renew the background check each year. Background checks can be completed at the school site or at home.

Save the Date!! Our spring International Night is scheduled for Thursday, May 15th from 6:00 - 8:00 PM. We are looking for performers and families who are interested in hosting a table. If you are interested, please email NorthwoodsPTA@gmail.com.

Spring Fundraiser:

Our annual spring fundraiser begins on Friday, April 11th and runs through Friday, April 25th. We have a lofty goal of $25,000 to support our amazing programs and events and initiatives. This year's funding spotlight is on much needed playground and basketball court renovations! All students will participate in a 30 minute fun run relay on April 25th, and if you'd like to pledge on a per minute basis - you can do that through the Booster platform!
