Week of March 31st, 2025
Message from Principal Getugi
Dear Leasure Families, Staff & Community
As we wrap up Marking Period 3, we’re thrilled to celebrate the incredible growth, hard work, and accomplishments of our students! From reading challenges to classroom milestones, this quarter has been full of learning and joy. A reminder that school will be closed on Monday, March 31, 2025, for Grading Day, and we will reopen on Tuesday, April 1st to kick off the final stretch of the school year.
April will be packed with exciting events and opportunities for our students and families! We’ll kick off the month with Autism Acceptance Week (April 7–11), where students will participate in themed spirit days and activities that celebrate neurodiversity, inclusion, and kindness. The Spring Book Fair will also be in full swing, giving students a chance to explore new stories and grow their love for reading. Then, get ready for our annual Sneaker Ball on April 17th—a fun-filled evening for students and families to celebrate in style and sneakers!
Please mark your calendars for Spring Break, which will run from April 18–25, 2025. We’re looking forward to a vibrant and engaging start to Marking Period 4!
SORA Reading Challenge – A Celebration of Reading!
As we wrap up our SORA Reading Challenge in honor of March’s Read Across America, we want to celebrate the excitement and joy of reading that this challenge has sparked in our students!
It has been incredible to see so many of our readers fully engaged—exploring new stories, diving into different genres, and building strong reading habits through the SORA platform. To recognize their efforts, we’re excited to host an Ice Cream Party for our challenge winners on April 11, 2025!
While the challenge may be over, our commitment to fostering a love of reading continues. We encourage all students to keep the momentum going by reading regularly and exploring the many books available in SORA. Reading not only builds academic skills—it opens doors to imagination, curiosity, and lifelong learning.
Thank you for your continued support in helping our students grow as confident, joyful readers!
Autism Acceptance Week - April 7th-11th, 2025
April is Autism Acceptance Month, a time to celebrate neurodiversity and promote understanding, inclusion, and respect for individuals with autism. At Leasure, we’re proud to honor this important month by hosting Autism Acceptance Week from April 7–11, 2025.
Throughout the week, students will participate in meaningful activities that highlight the importance of empathy, acceptance, and celebrating the unique strengths of every individual. Here’s how we’ll be showing our support each day:
Monday, 4/7 – Marvelous Minds Monday: Wear your favorite hat or fun hairdo to celebrate creative and brilliant minds.
Tuesday, 4/8 – Be Kind Tuesday: Wear something with a positive message (shirts, wristbands, etc.) to spread kindness and encouragement.
Wednesday, 4/9 – Walk It Out Wednesday: Wear rainbow or tie-dye clothing to reflect the symbol for neurodiversity.
Thursday, 4/10 – Heartfelt Thursday: Wear red to show love, empathy, and support for individuals with autism.
Friday, 4/11 – Feel Good Friday: Wear your comfy clothes or pajamas to celebrate self-care and feeling good about who you are.
We’re looking forward to a fun and meaningful week of learning, celebration, and unity! Thank you for your continued support in making Leasure a place where everyone belongs.
