Message from the Superintendent
We want to wish all of our CSD families and friends the best as we are about to start Winter Break. Mixed in with the typical energy and excitement leading into break has been the tragic news from earlier in the week. Most importantly, we are still thinking about the ALCS community. We hope that you will do the same. I hope earlier in the week you read the message provided by CSD regarding some of our school safety measures and efforts.
The truth is that we know it takes a collective effort to nurture all of our students. In a strong community like ours, know that we feel your support during the exciting and tough times. We appreciate all of our positive partnerships.
Over the past couple of weeks, I have noticed more on-the-spot dialogue than before with different individuals and groups (both at school and outside of school). I believe that these conversations are an important part of our continuous growth. The main themes in these interactions have been the Priority Areas (dating back to the October Newsletter—more will come on this topic in the future), the released State Report Card, and most recently school safety. We have engaged in many interesting discussions and been provided some valuable suggestions on all topics. As is probably well-known by many of you, time and funding is often our greatest obstacle. Regardless, thank you for the ideas, feedback, and suggestions. Your support is the best gift you can give us.
We hope that you have some valuable time with your loved ones over Winter Break. We hope that our students come back recharged and eager to learn. I am confident that we will continue to work hard to make Columbus a great place to learn and work!
Go Cards!

2024-2025 Inclement Weather/School Cancellations
For your safety and that of your children, this message is to inform you of how you will be notified of weather-related school closings. All parents who have updated information with the district on file should receive an email, text message, or phone call from the school informing them of a school closing. Your communication method that you receive will be based on what you selected as a preference for Infinite Campus. The most common types of weather-related school closings are: full-day school closing, 2-hour delay, or early dismissal. Early childhood and 4K typically follow the same closing schedule. In the event of a 2-hour delay, there usually is no school for early childhood or AM 4K, either. On days with a 2-hour delay, typically afternoon 4K students will have school. There could be an occasion where PM 4K is canceled in anticipation of a possible early release.
If you have recently changed your phone number or email address, please check with the office at your child's school to see if we have your most up to date contact information on file. Let's have a safe and warm winter together!
Winter is coming... Are you prepared to face the cold?
