Wrapping up the 2023-24 School Year!
Dear Valley Crossing families,
As we wrap up the 2023-24 school year, I want to take a moment to celebrate our wonderful journey together and the many successes we’ve shared. Our school is a special place because of our amazing students, dedicated staff, and supportive families!
This year, our community continued becoming closer together. Events like our Fall Fiesta, Spring into Summer, Fall Fun Run, I Love to Read Month, all-school Art Fair and our many musical performances were huge successes, with record numbers of families participating. These gatherings helped us celebrate the diversity and unity of our Valley Crossing family!
We want to express our deepest gratitude to our incredible teachers, staff, and volunteers for their dedication and hard work throughout the year. Each day, they strived to help our amazing students feel seen, heard and valued. To our students, we thank you for your enthusiasm, resilience, and efforts this year... it has been so amazing watching your social-emotional and academic growth over the course of the year! And to our families, your support and partnership has been invaluable and greatly appreciated! We are so fortunate to have the community we have!
We also want to send special congratulations to our graduating fifth graders! You’ve grown so much, and we are so proud of you! As you move on to middle school, take with you the lessons you’ve learned and the friendships you’ve made here at Valley Crossing. We know you will continue to achieve great things!
Lastly, we would like to extend a warm welcome to our new students and families who will be joining us in the upcoming year. We are thrilled to have you become part of our Valley Crossing family, and we look forward to embarking on this exciting journey together.
Thank you once again for an exceptional year filled with growth, achievements, and memorable moments. It is an honor and a privilege to serve as the principal of Valley Crossing Elementary School. I am grateful for the support of our entire community, and I cannot wait to see what the future holds for our remarkable students.
Have a wonderful and safe summer, and we look forward to seeing you in the fall!
In partnership,
Connha Classon, Principal
Valley Crossing Elementary
Congratulations to our 5th Graders!
As we end the year, we would like to thank our fifth grade students and families for your partnership over the years at Valley Crossing. We are proud of our 5th grade class and wish them well as they venture on this path of success! They are ready for it!
Class Placement and Summer Assessment Days
Save the Dates! On August 29 and September 3, all District 833 elementary schools will be having "Assessment Days." You will receive an email the middle of August to let you know your child's class placement. The email will also have a link for you to sign-up for a 30 minute time slot for your child to meet with next year's teacher. The teacher will visit briefly with each student on their class list and then assess them in reading. This valuable information about your child will give the teacher a little insight before school starts as well as having less testing at the beginning of the school year.
Please bring your child's school supplies on the assessment day to drop off in their classroom, as we will not be hosting an Open House next fall... instead, our staff will be at the PTA Fall Festival on Monday, September 16th to meet and greet families! Watch your email for more information to come in mid-August!

Preliminary Section Counts for 2024-25
We are preparing for next school year and are looking at our student numbers carefully. We will continue to monitor enrollment over the summer, but as of now, our section counts are as follows:
Neighborhood A: 3 sections of K-1, 2 sections of 2-3, 2 sections of 4-5, and 3 sections of Gateway 4-5
Neighborhood B: 3 sections of K-1, 3 sections of 2-3, and 2 sections of 4-5
Neighborhood C: 3 sections of K-1, 3 sections of 2-3, 2 sections of Gateway 3, and 2 sections of 4-5
For each of these sections, the Valley Crossing Elementary staff has made preliminary class lists for next school year. We carefully consider the variety of learning needs of children, and we work hard to achieve balanced classes across neighborhoods so students be successful both socially and academically. Class lists will be emailed in mid-August. Please note that changes to class lists will not be made now that they are established. Thank you in advance for your understanding.
