Testing Tips
Make sure your child gets plenty of rest each night. Research shows that well-rested children are better prepared for learning each day and retain more of what they learn.
Make sure your child is eating healthy. An article in the Journal of School Health suggests that specific dietary factors affect academic performance. Students who generally eat less saturated fat, salt, and “empty calorie foods,” and instead more fruits, vegetables, and grains had higher average scores on academic assessments.
Make sure your child completes their classwork and homework each day. This can help students feel better prepared and less anxious on testing day. Our teachers are working hard to ensure that every moment is used to ensure student success.

Greetings, Cardinal Scholars and Families!
Happy April! It's seems like it was yesterday that we were starting the year, filling out Master Agreement Forms, doing Online Data Confirmation, and logging into Edgenuity to start our classes... We are now 43 school days until the end of the year. At this point, in Edgenuity, you should be about 60% finished with your classes.
We started State Testing for our 11th graders, and we will be continuing with our 3rd-8th graders starting the week of April 15th (4th-8th) and the week of April 22nd (3rd grade). Please check the email sent for your schedule. If there are any questions, please check with your classroom teacher.
5th, 7th, and 9th graders will be having their Physical Fitness Testing on April 24th and 25th. We will be conducting this at West High School. Please check your email for details regarding this.
5th-11th Graders, we will be having a meeting to go over courses for next year. This is the time you will be deciding which electives you would like to take for the 2024-25 school year. A MS Teams link will be sent to you from your teacher. (See flyer below for dates/times)
This month let's continue to keep the momentum of getting through our classes. This is the last part of the year and we need everyone putting in their efforts and owning their learning. I have attached some resources for reference on how to organize yourself and manage time. These are skills that will benefit you as you move forward in school (and in life!).
As we close out the second to last month of the school year, let's continue our progress, stay focused, and keep that energy strong.
We appreciate the amazing support from our parents and families.
Cheers to our continued success,
Annabelle Lee
Principal

Reminders/Updates
Please check your SCHOOL email every day! Teachers and the office staff send out important information regularly, and this is the quickest line of communication to our students and families!
Attendance Reminders
Students must be logged in (not idle) for a minimum of 30 minutes a day and submit one assignment. (However, they will need to do more than the minimum to finish classes and stay on track.) Weekly attendance to their one on one teacher meetings is REQUIRED and does count towards their attendance for that day. Because we are an independent study school, we do not have excused absences, so students do need to do their assigned activities.
We have a schoolwide goal of 95% attendance which should be an easily achievable goal, since students are at home and can log in at any time during the school day. March we maintained at 91%! Let's get this to 95%
Seniors!
It's that time! We are starting to prep for graduation ... Please see the flyers below with information for caps and gowns orders and grad info.
Every Senior MUST fill out the FAFSA before graduation! It is open NOW and takes less than 30 minutes to fill out. https://studentaid.gov/fsa-id/sign-in/landing

10 Virtual Learning Tips for Parents to Support Their Kids in School
Academic Tips - Time Management
Time-Management Tip: Make To-Do Lists.
Each day make a list of all the things you need to do. Focus on one task at a time, and cross things off as they get done. At the end of each day, take the tasks that didn’t get done and put them on the next day’s To-Do list.
Time-Management Tip: Make a weekly schedule.
Each Sunday evening, take time to plan out the coming week. Make sure that you have enough time to do everything that’s scheduled.
Time-Management Tip: Use time wisely.
Use free time in school to start on homework. You’ll have a lot less work to do at night. Also look for chunks of time during the day that are wasted. Think about how you can use these times more effectively.
Time-Management Tip: Control time wasters.
Social media, TV, and video games can all be huge time wasters. Schedule small chunks of time for these activities, and stick to your schedule.
Time-Management Tip: Don’t overextend yourself.
If you’re doing more than you can handle, identify activities you can eliminate, shorten, or postpone. Do not give up sleep to get everything done.
Time-Management Tip: Create routines.
Having a good morning and nighttime routine will save you time, and help your day run more smoothly. Have a morning routine that includes getting up early enough to eat breakfast and not be rushed.
