From the Principal...
Dear Westbrook Families,
I hope everyone had an enjoyable spring break. We enjoyed welcoming students back into the building on Monday. We celebrated librarian, paraprofessional, and assistant principal appreciation this week. Please join us in thanking our wonderful librarian Carol Capra, our incredible paraprofessionals, and our hardworking assistant principal, Karl Anderson.
The Westbrook PTO is excited to offer Kona Ice to all Westbrook students on Friday, May 24th. Please complete this Kona Ice Permission Form to indicate if your child can participate. Nutritional information and ingredients can be found at this link.
The D57 Education Learning Foundation Gala is coming up on Saturday, April 15th. All of the school auction items are now up and ready to preview. Make sure to check out the Westbrook specific auction items including Dancing with the Principals and Games with the Principals. Many more auction items will be added throughout next week. Families can access auction items when clicking on the Studio 57 Gala flyer below.

Planning for the next school year begins early. If you would like to request that certain information be considered in assigning a classroom placement, please complete this optional form. The most helpful comments speak to specific insights you have about your child as a learner. We have an excellent staff, so we hope you will trust our expertise and input from your child’s current teacher to determine the best placement for your child for the upcoming school year. Please consider the following guidelines regarding the placement request process:
- Please do not request a specific teacher.
- If you have more than one child, please complete a separate form for each.
- All information is kept confidential and only read by Mrs. Crandall and Mr. Anderson
- All requests must be submitted by Friday, April 14.

Breaking News! ... From the Library
Author/Illustrator David Biedrzycki Coming to Westbrook School!
The winner of the 2016 Monarch Award for Breaking News Bear Alert, is coming to Westbrook on April 26th! His books include SumoKitty, Me and My Dragon, Invasion of the Unicorns, Groundhog's Runaway Shadow, and his newest book SumoPuppy.
Order forms to purchase his books are being sent home and are included here as well. Please complete the order form and return it to Westbrook with payment by Friday, April 14th. The author will autograph books when he visits.
Thanks to our fabulous PTO for funding this opportunity for the children to meet an author/illustrator in person!

Westbrook teachers and staff work hard to support students and staff daily. We invite you to complete the google form if you would like to recognize a staff member or team for their hard work and dedication. We will pass on the good news to them. Thank you in advance for sending an encouraging word, as we know it will mean so much to them.
News from the Nurse
Please keep your child home if they have a fever, have vomited, and/or have diarrhea.Your child may return to school once they have been fever free (without medication), vomit free, and/or diarrhea free for 24 hours. Please reach out to your pediatrician if your child is sick and you have any concerns.

No left turn traveling westbound from Central onto school property.
- Please park and walk with your students across the bus lane. Students should not walk in the lot unaccompanied.
Please ensure you use the crosswalk in the parking lot.
Please do not walk between the buses.
Please do not bring dogs or animals onto school property.
Please contact the classroom teacher if dismissal plans change.
