Principals' Message
Happy snowy Friday!
BPS is excited to celebrate worldwide Random Acts of Kindness week next week. Each day there will be a special activity or station in the front lobby for students and staff to engage with, in an effort to “spread kindness like confetti!”
Third and fourth graders will enjoy their final ski day at Sugarbush on Monday, and second graders will enjoy a field trip for nordic skiing on Wednesday.
A friendly reminder that students should not have cell phones, smart watches, tablets, etc. at school. Personal electronics (and all valuables) are safest at home. If your child needs to have a personal device, please ensure it is not active and/or out during the day. Thank you for taking this seriously and discussing this expectation with your child.
The BPS PTO sledding event has been rescheduled for this Sunday, 2/9 from 2-4pm. We hope to see you here!
Please join Sarah Schoolcraft and Chris Neville for a Q & A school budget session on Thursday, February 13 at 6:00pm in the BPS Library. This is a scheduled PTO meeting time, so we will plan to move into PTO business at 7pm. We encourage you to stay and engage with all that the PTO does to support our school, as well!
Thank you for being informed and casting your vote on this year’s school budget.
We encourage you to visit huusd.org and explore the resources available on the Budget page.
Thank you for partnering with us in your child(ren)’s education!
Snowily,
Sarah & Chris

Have Extra Sneakers? We Could Use Them!
At our school, we are fortunate to have a small collection of sneakers available for students who may forget to bring theirs to school. Many of our students rely on this resource, and we have noticed that it would be helpful to have more pairs on hand.
If your child has outgrown any sneakers and they’re still in good condition, we would greatly appreciate any donations! These donations will be used to ensure that every student has access to a pair of sneakers when needed.
Thank you in advance for your generosity and support! Every little bit helps, and your donations make a big difference in our school school community.
❗Registration for preschool opens February 21❗

From the Nursing Office
As we usually see between January and February break, there are many staff and students who are feeling ill. Here are a few reminders about when to keep your child home, when to return to school, and when to seek your primary care provider. When submitting your child’s absence, we encourage you to include your child’s symptoms so that we can monitor the type of illnesses our students have. Health Guidance for Going to School When is sick too sick for school? Here's what you can do to help keep your children healthy. Eat a healthy diet- eat lots of fruits and veggies and avoid foods with added sugar. Make sure your child gets enough sleep: sleep needs vary by age Help your child stay active: exercise keeps us healthy and less likely to get sick. Manage stress: encourage play and access to activities, spend time together Make sure your child is up to date on important vaccines: it’s not too late to get a flu vaccine! Don't forget the simple precautions Wash your hands. Cover your coughs and sneezes with your elbow. Stay away from sick people to the extent that you can.

Sleepy Hollow 2025 Summer Camp Programs!
Baseball and softball registration is open for the Spring 2025 season!
Register at: www.clydewhittemorelittleleague.com
Clyde Whittemore Little League provides programs for kids ages 4-12, from T-ball all the way up to the major league level. While many families are generally familiar with our baseball program, our softball offerings for girls are less well known. For that reason, I want to take a minute to highlight our softball programs here! There are three levels this year serving girls ages 6-12 years old. If you would like to discuss which level would be best for your player, please don't hesitate to reach out to Coach Kristin at kbrynga@gmail.com.
Coach/Machine Pitch -
This level is an introduction to softball and is primarily for players 6-8 years old. As its name implies, coaches will be pitching to players at this level with modified game rules to maximize player participation and opportunities for growth. Teams will have one practice and one game weekly.
Minor League-
This level is primarily for players ages 8-10 who are still in the early stages of learning the game of softball. Players have the opportunity to pitch with modified rules (i.e. no stealing bases, limited walks, maximum number of runs per inning. etc) to keep the game moving. The minor league level is less competitive than the major league program. Players will be on the field 3 days a week with a combination of games and practices.
Major League-
This level is primarily for players ages 10-12 who have played at least one season of minor league softball. At this level players pitch with increasing speed and full game rules are in force. This is our most competitive level of softball play. Players will be on the field 3 days a week with a combination of games and practices.
Please note that we will begin our optional spring training sessions on Saturdays beginning March 8th. Your player must be registered prior to attending spring training. Outdoor practices and games will begin after May 1st. Scholarships are available for those who need financial assistance.
Girls On The Run
Brookside Primary School families and friends, we are gearing up for another empowering and fun spring season of Girls on the Run! Navigating through tough times takes perseverance. This season's curriculum inspires all participants to say “I can!” to every obstacle that comes their way. Participants will build confidence to overcome difficult situations, inspire others to keep going when it’s hard, and embrace their confidence to make a difference in their community.
Our season starts the week of March 17th and culminates May 31st in a noncompetitive, celebratory 5K event. Teams meet twice a week for 90 minutes each session for 10 weeks. Girls on the Run is open to girls in grades 3-5. If your child is interested in participating this spring, please complete GOTRVT's Participant Interest Form ahead of registration opening in February. To learn more about these programs, check out gotrvt.org/programs. Have further questions? Contact GOTRVT at anne@girlsontherunvermont.org or 802-871-5664.
