Park Terrace Newsletter
August 14, 2024 - NEWSLETTER
Dear Park Terrace Families,
We are getting ready to kick off the 2024-2025 school year. I am excited to start the year as the principal at Park Terrace, and I’m ready to see you all! I hope everyone had a great summer and you are ready to begin a wonderful school year! A new year means new opportunities to learn and grow. Let's make the most of each day and enjoy our time together. Here's to a great year ahead!
We have so much to look forward to this year. As always, we welcome a new class of kindergarteners. We will continue our SPARK program which has been so valuable for providing students the chance to explore their interests in a variety of different classes. Our teachers and staff are hard at work designing lessons and preparing to make this our best school year yet!
The first day of school is Tuesday September 3, 2024. We are including here important items you will need to know as the start of the school year approaches.
Meet your teacher – Wednesday, August 28
We will host a meet and greet event at Park Terrace Elementary on Wednesday, August 28, 4-6 p.m. We want each family to have time and space to explore our school and meet their student’s teacher. If you are able, please come at the designated time:
- 4-5 p.m. - students with last names starting with A-M
- 5-6 p.m. – students with the last names starting with N-Z
Before the meet and greet evening, watch for a welcome message from your student’s teacher. I really hope all of our students can join us to meet their teacher and see our school!
Bus riders
If your child rides the bus, bus information, including bus stop, pick up and drop off times is expected to be mailed to homes the week of August 19. Please plan for your student to ride the bus on the first day of school to help us work out all of our routines and eliminate as much confusion as possible.
Car riders and walkers
If your child will be dropped off and picked up by a parent, we ask that you follow the below procedures to facilitate safe and effective drop off and pick up routines:
- Drop off: Families may drop off students at the front door beginning at 9 a.m. Students will be released to go to their classroom at 9:10 a.m. Until then, students will be supervised in the gym (Students should bring a book to read).
- Pick up: For the safety of our students, we prefer families stay in their car for student dismissal. As you drive up, please follow the line of cars along the far side (south side) of the parking lot. A staff member will ask you for your child’s name(s) and grade(s) and send that information to staff inside. Your child will leave the building as you pull closer to the main entrance. Please be mindful and observant of any families crossing the road.
- Parking: Families may choose to park and walk up to the building. As you approach the school, a staff member will ask who you are picking up and send that information to a staff member inside for student release. After greeting your child, be sure to use the crosswalk to return to your vehicle and ensure your child is close by and safe returning to your vehicle.
