SHS After School Academic Support

Scituate High School is hosting an After School Academic Support Center for ELA and Math beginning next week. Ms. Antonelli will stay after school for ELA each Tuesday beginning October 17th, and Mr. Soucar will be available for Math each Thursday beginning October 19th. Sessions will run from 2:20-3:20, and late buses will be available. During this time students can get extra support while completing class assignments and homework. We hope students will take advantage of this opportunity to get the additional time or help they need to be successful!

On Friday members of SHS HOSA traveled to

Johnson and Wales to attend the Fall Leadership Conference. Members attended workshops in the morning and took part in a networking and leadership session in the afternoon. It was a great kickoff to the year as students now spend the next few months preparing their projects for the spring conference.

HOSA members were asked to attend the Family Medicine Education Consortium on Saturday. Maggie Collins, Abby Chatelle, Sam Duarte, Ella Werbecki and Brady Benedict-Smith presented their HOSA projects from the past year to physicians and residents from around the country. Maggie and Abby then participated in a panel discussion on “Inspiring Pathways to Family Medicine.”

HUGE thank you to parents Monique Rossignol and Sacha Stein for their efforts at our new rotary at the high school as well as the flag pole at Manning Field! We are grateful for you!

Scitaute’s SADD Club (students against destructive decisions) town scarecrow festival competition

Ms. Matisewski, Ms. Grundt, Mrs. Dailey, and Mrs. Stormont attended an AP Educator Recognition Ceremony sponsored by RIDE and the College Board.

Students in Mrs Dailey’s AP Calculus class completed a card sort activity in which they had to match graphs of functions with the graphs of their derivatives without knowing which graphs were the original functions and which were the derivatives. The students' conversations demonstrated their growing understanding of the concept of the derivative and the language that we use to describe it.

It's apple season and Culinary students are making their famous apple crisp.

As you may know, each year Scituate Public Schools hosts a turkey basket drive around Thanksgiving. This is for families who may need some extra assistance with providing a complete Thanksgiving meal for their family to enjoy. The baskets will include all the things needed for a turkey dinner. Please use the following google forms to express interest in receiving a Thanksgiving Basket.

Dear Friends of SHS Girls & Boys Soccer Teams,

We are writing to you with regard to a fundraiser we are running to benefit Scituate High School girls and boys soccer teams. We are hosting a Funny 4 Funds comedy show at 8:00 PM on October 20 at the Coventry Elks Lodge. The teams have set a lofty goal and the money raised will be used to cover the Veo camera subscription, team warm-ups and other equipment.

There are several ways you can support the soccer teams through this fundraiser:

• Purchase tickets to the show.

• If you are unable to attend the show, but would like to make a donation you may do so.

• You may sponsor the event. Sponsors giving $100 or more will get their name on the banner at the event.

• The team will also be putting together raffle baskets. You may wish to donate a gift card or item(s) for the baskets.

The Unified Volleyball team had fun at Johnston this week!

Girls varsity with a 3-1 win over Juanita Sanchez! So fun to watch! JV also grabbed the win on Friday

Still undefeated Lady Spartans with a 3-0 win against Bay View!! The road continues this week with three games come out and support this team!

Kicking off the week with a 2-0 win against North Providence at home. The Lady Spartans have been killing the passing game and this win was truly a team effort! Goal by Dakota Landry and a PK by Taya Bagley.

The football team traveled to Pierce Field to take on the undefeated Davies Career and Tech. Unfortunately, they are still undefeated. Touchdown scored by QB Sean O'Brien and the extra point was kicked by Travis Howman. Next week the boys play on Saturday against Hope!

The tennis team traveled to Hope, Providence last week and left with a 7 to 0 win! They currently hold second place in their division! Great work

4-0 win for the Lady Spartans vs. PCD, a tough opponent. (1st singles & all three doubles teams won, while the 2nd, 3rd & 4th singles matches ended in a draw due to lack of daylight)

The Spartan Boys Soccer team played the Prout Crusaders last week at Prout. They came out with the win ending the game 2-0 with goals from Travis White (assist from Austin Simas) and Caden Gurjian (assist from Travis White)!

This team is holding first place in their division! They are having a great season.

JV Soccer traveled to Prout. They won 2 to 1. Goals by Noah Barone and Tyler North.
