Mr. Mauck's Musings
I hope everyone had a fun and safe Halloween evening. JHS has a new pair of state champions. Caleb Schnarr and Eli Flick won the individual number one singles championship. This follows up Caleb's selection as this years mental attitude winner. Congratulations boys. The Girls Cross Country team and two of the boys individually are competing tomorrow at the state cross country meet. Good luck to our runners. The JHS Marching Wildcats will have a showcase at Alumni Stadium at 3 O'clock tomorrow in preparation for their state competition November 9th. Girl's basketball and wrestling have begun their practices. Good luck to all or students as they finish their seasons or begin a new one.
I would like to thank our staff on a wonderful Halloween parade and their participation in our fourth annual costume contest. Congratulations to the Science Department on their back to back victories. It was a difficult decision this year. We followed the contest with a costume parade during homeroom. Of course the Little Wildcats were the cutest group. Congratulations to David Arango Bahoz and Mrs. Shelly Krodel for their selection as our student and staff of the week.
JHS hosted the countywide professional development day today. We had every teacher in the county on campus for a keynote speaker and six breakout sessions pertaining to the teacher's particular interests. We had over 400 participants and 50 presenters. It was a fabulous way for our teachers to stay innovative and create engaging lessons.
Monday, November 11th JHS will recognize our countries veterans with our Veterans' Day Program. Please see the section below to help us pay tribute to our veterans. The JHS Performing Arts Club will be preforming Guys and Dolls November 14-17th. Tickets are available online at this link. The Freshmen and Sophomores will be attending a musical performance at the Jasper Arts Center on November 18th. We will bus them to the auditorium to listen to an amazing guitarist. A Senior Financial Aid Meeting will be held on November 18, 6:00pm JHS Auditorium. Stan Werne will be presenting information on filing the FAFSA. Any senior parent(s) with questions about this process is encouraged to attend. Check out the Wildcat Weekly Video for 10-31-24 https://youtu.be/GPc8CqSUweM sports edition. Also do not miss out on your opportunity to buy a discounted yearbook for next year. Details are below. The Jasper Girls Golf team will begin offseason conditioning in December. This is open to current 8th-11th graders. If you are interested in playing on the Golf Team next fall, reach out to Coach Blessinger (gblessinger@gjcs.k12.in.us) for the offseason schedule. Finally, we really need your help to fill these boxes. The Java and Jargon Book Club along with Student Council is hosting a shoebox event. We are asking for your help to collect items to support children in need around the world. See the sample box in the library for acceptable items and look at the book banter section for details.
Have a great weekend and Go Cats!

AP Drop/Add Fee - The College Board has a final order date of November 15 for the exams that students will take next may. We will order an exam for all students enrolled in a course. If a student drops an AP class after this date they will incur a $40 charge from the College Board as a late drop fee. We would like to help any student that plans on dropping an AP class at the end of the semester avoid these fees. Therefore, any student who knows that they are going to make a schedule change to drop an AP class should see Mr. Uebelhor before November 15 to make that change now. Anyone dropping an AP class after that date will be billed the $40 in January
