Principal's Message
Greeting families,
Happy New Year!
First, I would like to thank you again for all the presents, donations, and best wishes we received before the break. You made us feel special.
As I shared before the break, some of our children may have gotten extra attached to you or your family members, creating separation anxiety when coming back tomorrow. But, again, this is perfectly normal, and you can mitigate it by talking to them about them returning to school after a well-deserved vacation.
I want to remind you that daily attendance is essential, and I encourage you to make all appointments after 1:00 pm whenever possible.
This month is parent-teacher conferences. The district's official day is January 23rd, but we will follow the same procedures we did last time to ensure we can accommodate all of you. For most of the classes, your child's teacher will hold the conferences between January 17th and 27th. Teachers will share the sign-up in their newsletter and via class dojo if needed.
If you have questions or comments, please do not hesitate and ask.
Thanks for choosing us!
Kind Regards,
Roberto Gonzalez

Social and Emotional Learning (S.E.L)
We are proud to be a campus that works in Social and Emotional practices with our students. Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) builds the skills, knowledge, and attitudes that both students and adults need to be successful in school, work, and life. They include things such as knowing and controlling your emotions, teamwork, understanding others, making positive choices, and resilience.
There are four signature practices that the school follows:
Morning Meetings
Mood Meter
Respect Agreements
Calming Corners
This week I would like to introduce the Calming Corner.
What is a Calming Corner?
A Calming Area is a quiet area in your home equipped with soothing materials and furnishings to help children, of all ages, calm down and regulate big emotions like stress, anxiety, or sadness. The Calming Area should be cozy and soothing for your child to spend time in. It doesn't have to be fancy, just inviting.
Why is a calming area important?
- Becoming and remaining calm during big emotions is an important and learned life skill. When we experience these big emotions our amygdala, the part of our brain that moderates our emotions, goes into overdrive. Our pre-frontal cortex, the good decision-making part of our brain is taken over. Our brain activates a fight, flight, or freeze response limiting logic and reasoning. A designated Calming Area provides a safe place to physically and mentally release and regulate big emotions.

S.E.L Home connections
As you may have heard, flu cases have spiked and many urgent care centers as well as ER departments are overwhelmed with the surge of RSV and respiratory illnesses. Many schools are also experiencing an excessive number of absences. By partnering with Children’s Health School-Based Telehealth they can offer your students easy and convenient access to health care in both school and home settings.
Through the School Telehealth program, they also offer flu and strep testing, at no additional cost to families. The school nurses deliver the tests during the telehealth exam.
