The Countdown is On!

We are a little less than two months from the end of school. This newsletter is very brief containing information about STAAR testing this month and dates for the end of the school year. Please know that dates may change, we will try our best to prevent this from happening.

Testing Schedule

Tuesday, April 15-

Grades 6-10 English STAAR
Seniors breakfast at NH Community Center hosted by the Church of Christ-8:30am then report school to at 1:04 (6th period)
Grade 11 report to school at 1:04 (6th period)
If you need to have your students to school earlier then 1:04, we will have a place for them.

Monday, April 21-

8th grade Social Studies and US History EOC (grade 8 and grade 11)
Non-testers- (Grades 6 and 7) report to school at 8:00am
Remaining secondary students report to school at 11:44am
If you need to have your students to school earlier then 11:44, we will have a place for them.

Tuesday, April 22-

8th grade Science and Biology EOC (grade 8 and grades 9 and some 10)
Non-testers- (Grades 6 and 7) report to school at 8:00am
Remaining secondary students report to school at 11:44am
If you need to have your students to school earlier then 11:44, we will have a place for them.

Tuesday, April 29-

Grades 6 - Algebra 1 Math STAAR
Seniors report to school at 8:00am, attending a conference at Region 17 Service Center; conference is 9:00-12:00, students will be released from school upon return to New Home
Non-testers- Grade 9 Geometry, Grade 10, and Grade 11 report to school at 1:04 (6th period)
If you need to have your students to school earlier then 1:04, we will have a place for them.

Wednesday, May 14-

AP English 3 Test- students need to be at school by 7:45am

May 16- Graduation Walk with Kinder and Seniors on both campuses, more details to come

May 21- Last Day of School

Extended Absences

If your student is going to be absent more than 3 days please follow these steps:

Contact the school @ 806-924-7543 to report absence and arrange time for pick-up of school work.

Teachers will need 24 hours to gather work

Teachers will provide either paper or digital work.

Students can email teachers or communicate through Google Classroom with questions.

Students are expected to complete the assignments daily, unless too sick.

Parents are asked to return assignments on paper after 3-4 days (if the student is out an extended time) so that the teachers can grade work in a timely manner. Assignments in Google Classroom must be submitted daily if possible.

Teachers are doing their best to keep students up to date when absent but the students must do their part as well. This includes the student working on assignments and completing readings each day if possible. Doing work during their absence is the ONLY way they are going to be able to keep up.

Cafeteria News and Forgotten Lunches

Lunches this school year will be $2.50. Free and reduced lunch prices will be adjusted accordingly on a student to student basis. You can send cash or check with your child for their lunch account or add money online. Breakfast will remain free for all students. If your child forgets his or her lunch, there will be a cart for secondary students at the main entrance for you to drop off the lunch. Please make sure to label the bag/ lunch box with your child's name and grade level.
