PRAYER
Holy Father, God of Love,
You are the Creator of all things.
Our hope is in you because you gave your Son Jesus
to reconcile the world to you.
We pray for your strength and grace to forgive, accept and love one another,
as you love us and forgive and accept us in the sacrifice of your Son.
Teach us to respect all cultures.
Teach us to care for our land and waters.
Help us to share justly the resources of this land.
Help us to bring about spiritual and social change
to improve the quality of life for all groups in our communities,
especially the disadvantaged.
Help young people to find true dignity and self-esteem by your Spirit.
May your power and love be the foundations on which we build our families,
our communities and our Nation, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
(Wontulp Bi-Buya Indigenous Theology Working Group 13 March 1997 Brisbane, Qld).
Dear Parents and Community Members,
National Reconciliation Week 2024: Now More than Ever
National Reconciliation Week, 27 May to 3 June, is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.
Reconciliation is a journey for all Australians – as individuals, families, communities, organisations and importantly as a nation. At the heart of this journey are relationships between the broader Australian community and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
We all have a role to play when it comes to reconciliation, and in playing our part we collectively build respectful relationships and communities that value Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, histories, cultures, and futures.
This week, each class completed activities as part of their learning program.
SW Principals Visit to OLC
Last Friday, 18 Principals from South-West schools spent the day at our school. They were greeted by senior students and welcomed by the choir singing uplifting songs to get the day started. They enjoyed a school presentation highlighting some of the things that make our school unique, including our cultural program, followed by a school tour.
Overwhelmingly, they were impressed with the way our students were polite and welcoming. It was wonderful to showcase our school and the great things that we are doing.
Winter Carnival
Students in Years 5-6 travelled to Hay Park in Bunbury today to participate in our winter carnival, playing netball, football and soccer.
Cross Country (Years 1-6)
In preparation for our participation in the SW Schools Interschool Cross Country next term, we are having our Cross-Country event on Thursday 13 June. Students from Years 1-6 will participate. We select students for our interschool team, based on the results of the event.
The Interschool Cross Country event will be held at Bunbury Cathedral Grammar School on Thursday 25 July, 10.30-1.45pm.
Kindergarten 2025
Kindergarten 2025 interviews are currently taking place. Parents of siblings already attending OLC, please make sure you have submitted enrolment forms for your children who will be in Kindy 2025.
There will be a parent meeting on Monday 4 November at 9.30am and orientation sessions for parents and children on 18 November.
Please note that Kindergarten 2025 has limited places remaining. Please let people know if they are seeking enrolment at our school.

School fees reminder statements will be emailed shortly. If you have not commenced any repayments and are experiencing difficulties, please contact me to arrange a confidential chat. Thank you.
P&F
Our P&F will meet Tuesday 11 June at 9.00am in the school Staff Room. Come along to the next meeting to help ‘de-brief’ after events and begin planning the next ones!
We thank our hard-working P&F for the wonderful efforts they make to bring us together as a community, and while doing that they raise funds to support school projects.

Keeping Safe: Child Protection Curriculum (KS:CPC)
The KS:CPC teaches all children from a young age, in an age appropriate way, to:
• recognise abuse and tell a trusted adult about it
• understand what is appropriate and inappropriate touching; and
• understand ways of keeping themselves safe.
Teachers who deliver the curriculum must complete a training course. Here is a Parent Tip Sheet referring to Focus Area 2 of the Child Protection Curriculum.
School Attendance
School attendance matters as early as Kindergarten.
Children who regularly attend school have opportunities to socialise, problem solve, and learn in an enriched environment. Studies show that children who miss too many days in Kindergarten and
Pre-Primary, struggle academically in later years.
It only takes one absence every two weeks for attendance to be concerning as learning is missed. Attend today and achieve for a lifetime.
How can you help?
• Plan holidays for non-school days
• Try to schedule appointments for the end of the school day
• Make sure your child attends school every day unless they are sick
• Ensure your child has a good routine before school
• Solve any problems your child is having at school with their teacher as early as possible
How can we help?
• Teachers show a genuine interest in your child’s well-being and future success
• Teachers support your child to build positive relationships with other students
• Teachers support your child’s learning to ensure they feel confident in the classroom and achieve their full potential.
Please contact the school if you require any assistance in maintaining regular attendance so that together we can optimise learning opportunities for our students.
Reporting to Parents
To ensure that you receive your child(ren)s report for Semester One, please check your SEQTA login before the end of Week 10 (Friday 21 June) and contact Adrian Torrese (adrian.torrese@cewa.edu.au) if you are having trouble.
There is always lots happening at our lovely school and I encourage you to keep an eye on the Website Calendar. It is already Week 7 this week and the term is flying by! I hope you enjoy a relaxing long weekend and have a chance to take a breath in your busy lives!
Have a wonderful week.
May God bless you

The Sacrament of Baptism in the Catholic faith is like joining a big, loving family. When someone is baptised, they are welcomed into the Church, which is considered the family of God. This sacrament washes away original sin, marks the person as a Christian, and connects them to all other Catholics around the world. It symbolises a fresh start and a shared faith, bringing everyone together as brothers and sisters in God's spiritual family.
Congratulations to OLC students Joel, Ryan and Trinka Pitchers who will be Baptised into the Catholic faith this coming weekend. Welcome to God’s family!
Other OLC families looking to Baptise their children into the faith are welcome to register for the Sacrament by completing this form https://olotscparish.org.au/?page_id=695 and then emailing it to Fr Archie at olotscparish@gmail.com.
OLC's Got Talent
Dear OLC Parents,
We are excited to announce that our annual ‘OLC’s Got Talent’ Show will be held on Thursday 20th June at 1:30pm. Students from Years 3-6 will be unleashing their talents and performing in the hall for this event.
Many students have now auditioned and are preparing for the show, alongside our Year 6 ‘Arts Crew’ who will be hosting this year’s event. In addition to the show, we will be holding a full dress rehearsal on Wednesday 12th June at 1:40pm. If your children have been selected for the show, they will need to have any costumes/props/music ready to come to school on this day.
Please feel welcome to come along and join in the fun on Thursday 20th June. You will be treated to a showcase of fantastic talent!
If you have any questions about the day or the rehearsal, please do not hesitate to email one of us on amy.sherborne@cewa.edu.au or jessica.graham@cewa.edu.au
Kind regards
