Ms Clay Gets the Job Done!
During the last week there was an interview process for the role of headteacher at Lister Community School. I am pleased to be able to inform you all of the outcome of the selection process. After a really rigorous two days the five person selection panel were unanimous in agreeing to recommend Alice Clay for appointment as the Headteacher of Lister Community School, and I am pleased to say that she has accepted the post. As Ms Clay is currently in an interim role at Lister, the appointment can take immediate effect.
I would like to thank everyone who participated in and supported the process - selection panel members, PAs, admin team, colleagues who participated in the interviews.
We all look forward to Ms Clay's leadership taking Lister to new heights!

Oliver Jnr Gets a Rave Review
A 5 * performance!
When next we have a school wide performance, I urge you to cancel all engagements and attend. I went to see Oliver Jnr on Thursday and it was a thoroughly entertaining evening, with some fabulous musical numbers. The cast performed with joy and confidence, and it was truly delightful to see some shyer members of the pupil community thoroughly engaged. The hall was filled on both evenings with students and parents of Lister school wowed by the sheer scale and energy of the theatrical event.
Many thanks to Mr Thorn, Dr Brand, Ms Skuse, Ms Coke and all the staff involved.
Other Items
Careers Workshops
This week is a busy week for Careers opportunities, selected students in Y7-9 will take part in workshops with the Financial Conduct Authority; whilst selected Y7 students will take part in a workshop with Into University.
The FCA workshop is intended to develop problem solving skills and educate children on their consumer rights. They learn about the law related to returning good to companies, like Amazon, as well getting information about when they can legally be employed in part-time jobs.
Lister Basketball Students Aiming for Excellence
They played 4 games in the group stages, with 3 wins and 1 loss (to St Bons), this took them through to the semi finals where they lost narrowly to Rokeby. It was a VERY close game!
They played and represented the school really well and I just wanted to take this opportunity to highlight the great work that Coach Mike has been doing behind the scenes to grow basketball since he started with us in November.
The U16 girls team have also been put through to the second knockout round of the London youth games which is due to be held at Lister - date and time tbc.
Please see photos of the team today, unfortunately it was difficult to get a smile!!!!
Safer Internet Day
Safer Internet Day was highlighted on Tuesday 6th February. The day is a great opportunity to focus on online safety with your child, something that is so important now, more than ever. The UK Safer Internet Centre have produced this page which answers lots of questions parents have and offers a wealth of advice. This is a great resource for parents and supports everyone working together to make the internet a safer place for young people.
Why not ask your child what they learn in school about keeping safe online?
