"Be Committed, Be Consistent, Be Courageous"
You Transform Lives
Hello Phoenix Nation,
Only 5 Mondays of school left! We know, time is flying by. This is “CRUNCH” time for us and it looks different than it ever has. Give it all you got! Find your inner Serena or LeBron. “GET IT DONE” is our call of action to all of you. We want to thank you for your continued service in increasing scholar achievement here in the Southern sector of Dallas. Covid-19 has not interrupted your dedication to scholar’s learning or your creativity. We noticed and thank you for all the extra time you have spent rethinking lessons and the best way to deliver them. The work we do can be difficult and can suck the air out of us, and it can be rewarding, and exciting, and emotional all at once. The next time someone asks you what you do for a living tell them, “I transform lives!” That is what you do. You transform lives. You are all exceptional human beings and we humbly thank you for your service to our scholars, their families, and our community. We are grateful that you have chosen to work on our team. “Starting strong is good. Finishing strong is epic.” – Robin Sharma
Wishing you health, love, and peace of mind,
Priscilla, Chataqua, Chrissy, and Jabez
Things To Do
Progress Reports: Progress report notifications must be given to all scholars who may receive a “N” as a quarter 4 grade. All progress reports should be out be May 2, 2020.
TIA Materials and Survey: You should be receiving a survey about TIA, Teacher Incentive Allotment. Please take some time to complete the survey, it closes on Monday and this is a great way to get your voice heard on teacher incentives! You can get more information here: uplift page.
EOY ESL Forms: An English Learner Reclassification Rubric form will be sent through ELLevation for every current EL on Monday, April 27th. This form is required for LPAC to help document when a scholar is ready for grade level instruction with minimal second language support. LPAC will review available data and the teacher-completed reclassification form to make 2020-2021 determinations. Please provide justification in the comments section for your decision regarding each EL. If you have any questions, please contact Lupe. ELLevation Link: https://login.ellevationeducation.com/
All Forms are DUE BY EOD 5/8.
Wednesday PD: This Wednesday our PD will take place via ZOOM as we did last week. Please wear workout clothes (shorts and yoga pants are ok), bring water, and have a yoga mat. Yep, it’s going to be one of those types of PD’s!
EOY Activities and Celebrations: Start thinking about what your grade level wants to do for end of year celebrations with scholars. All activities and celebrations will all take place remotely. Think outside of the norm. Be creative and make the activities and celebrations fun for you and scholars. Your grade level calendar of activities should be turned in to Priscilla and your dean by May 8th.
Scholar Assignment Feedback: Scholars should have received feedback on at least 8 Google classroom assignments by May 1st.
Hero Usage: We would like for you to start using HERO points to scholars as they complete their online learning and participate in the live sessions.

Things to Know
ELLevation Resources for Distance Learning: Instructional Activities: Enhance your lessons with effective activities specifically adapted for distance learning. Help ELs continue to develop language and learn academic content, no matter the learning environment. Find activities that help you differentiate for students in any grade level or content area, complete with demonstration videos, graphic organizers, slide decks, work examples and more. https://distance.ellevationeducation.com/activities
CTL Applications: CTL applications have been shared by your content chairs from Uplift. If you're interested in applying, refer to the emails and info shared on Blackboard.
Move Out/EOY Checklist: The network just gave guidance around closing classrooms. Byron will send out information and sign up dates next week.
Bad Weather Make-Up Day: Friday, April 24th is our final bad weather make-up day on our academic calendar. We will not be doing meal service on April 24th and will continue to remind parents over the course of next week.
Uplift has published information on Uplink on the Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA): A provision in House Bill 3 that gives school districts the opportunity to create a local designation system that identifies the top 30% of classroom teachers state-wide as “recognized,” “exemplary,” and “master”. Districts across the state of Texas with designated teachers will receive an allotment ranging from $3,000-$32,000 for each teacher with said designation that goes toward compensation at the campus where the teacher works. Take time to review the information on Uplink as this is an exciting opportunity for teachers in TX and for teachers in Uplift. The network will send out a survey to all teachers next week to collect more input on TIA – and it will be helpful to know more about what TIA is beforehand.
Just in Case You Didn’t Know: Last day of school for Scholars: May 22 and the last for Staff: May 26
