A Message from the Superintendent
ACPS Students Get Into the Thanksgiving Spirit Early This Year
Dear students, families and staff,
This year, our students caught the giving spirit of Thanksgiving a month or two early. Students at several schools have been working throughout September and October to raise funds and goods for several causes.
At Burley, students have been collecting gently used or new clothing for students and families on Owen Middle School in Swannanoa, North Carolina. Many students and families of Owen Middle School were able to escape the destructive flooding from Hurricane Helene with only the clothes on their backs. The Burley Bears have been working for the past two weeks to collect clothes, blankets and other needed supplies that BMS staff members will take down to Swannanoa in mid-November. See the #TogetherWeRise DonorsChoose page for more information and to chip in if you can.
Students at Stone-Robinson Elementary School recently got to slime Assistant Principal David Foreman after meeting their fundraising goal for the school's PTO! Students collected donations in exchange for running laps around the track at the school and afterward got to slime Mr. Foreman Nickelodeon-style. See our Featured Video for more!
Brownsville Elementary School students are also raising money for their PTO. If students there meet their fundraising goal, Principal Jim Kyner will have to kiss a pig! Stay tuned to see if the Bees are able to meet the mark!
Wishing you all a wonderful season of thanks,
Dr. Matthew S. Haas
Superintendent
