FAQ
Who can attend day camp?
We are accepting registrations for boys AND girls from first grade to fifth grade. Scouts that are current lions will register as TIGERS at camp. A parent MUST be present on premises for each day your TIGER scout is present!
What are the age limits/ranks?
1st Grade: Tiger
2nd Grade: Wolf
3rd Grade: Bear
4th/5th Grade: Webelos
Lion scouts can attend camp as JUNIOR CAMPERS(see below) and MUST have an adult volunteer on site for each day of attendance.
Youth Crew are BSA Scouts who have signed up to volunteer and earn service learning hours.
What is junior camp?
My scout is currently an AOL (2nd Year Scout). How do I register him/her/them?
First year youth crew scouts will be den walkers. We have found this the most successsful in retaining volunteers throughout the years. They will get to experience all of camp and determine where they would be most efficient the following year when they volunteer.
What is Youth Crew?
Youth Crew are registered Boy Scouts that volunteer at camp. Scouts earn around 40 volunteer hours which can be used toward BCPS service hours or for their next BSA rank.
Youth crew will report at 7:30 each morning to help with morning drop off and can leave after 7:40. They are required to sign in AND out each day at the administration tent in order to get their hours.
A form will be mailed home later in the summer so students can report their hours to their local school.
How can I help?
Each pack is required to provide 1 adult volunteer for every 5 scouts registered. As an adult you can either volunteer as:
Den Walker: walk with the den and assist with scouts at stations
Den Leader: Lead the den and rely on walkers to help assist
Station Leader: implement and lead the curriculum at the station which is already written and materials are already prepared.
Station Assistant: Assist the leader at the station with various aged scouts.
Admin: Assist the camp secretary with paperwork and attendance. This job requires knowledge of how the camp is run and be quick to problem solve and improvise.
Camp Coordinators
In order to register, each pack will need to designate a camp coordinator.
