Canned Food Drive
It’s that time of year again where we as a school body can really make a difference in our community through partnering with Plano Santas Holiday Food Drive!
For the past 21 years, our district has worked with the Assistance Center of Collin County and Plano Santas to host the CANned food drives at each school and district facility. This group of local Plano merchants, business men and women, civic and community leaders provide assistance to needy families each year during the holiday season. A month’s worth of food and children’s gifts are provided for more than 500 families each year!
Please see the following list of non-perishable items that are acceptable:
cans
boxes (ex: spaghetti, mac & cheese, cereal)
plastic bottles (ex: peanut butter)
bags (rice or beans)
NO glass please!
Please support this drive! Bring food to your advisory class between November 11 and December 4. Make a difference in the lives of others!!

Freshman Course Selections for 2019-2020
This week 9th grade students met with counselors to start a multi-step process for course selections for the 2020-2021 school year. Students were given a 10th grade course selection sheet to complete. This is the first step when building our master schedule to determine the number of on-level, honors, and AP course sections. During the presentation, students were asked to select one English, math, science, social studies, LOTE, and electives to complete a seven period day. After they made their selections, they were given a copy to take home and share the course request with their parent or guardian. This does not mean they have established their 10th grade schedule. This provides our campus with insight we need to build our master schedule. This also encourages parents and students to begin early dialogue about course selection for next year. Please review the attached course selection sheet and contact your child’s counselor if you have any questions.

We encourage parents to review the course request sheet with their student and make a final determination with your child’s counselor before May 20, 2020. Our counselors plan to host a parent session during an evening (TBD) in February or March to review the course request sheet and answer questions pertaining to the courses that are being offered. Tenth grade schedule information sessions will be on January 10 during first, second, and third period based on student last name. Parents are welcome to attend. Plano East counselors will meet with them and discuss courses and address questions pertaining to AP, dual credit, and early arrival/early dismissal.
