πMessage From Principal Haugens
Dear Parents,
A big THANK YOU to our PTO and parent volunteers for the wonderful Valentine Parties last week. The students had a lot of fun passing out Valentines and participating in classroom games & activities.
We had our third Jaguar Den of the school year on Friday of last week. On select Early Release Days, students are placed into small groups from various grade levels and classrooms, to build community and a sense of belonging. Students discussed, "What Fills My Heart" during the Jaguar Dens. A lot of students responded with family, mom & dad, friends, & pets. We placed all the kid's hearts in a Conversation Heart box located in the lobby of the school.
We have noticed more students wearing smartwatches at DuJardin. We do allow students to wear smartwatches, but they should not be used during the school day for texting or calling home. If students use a smartwatch like a cell phone, they will be asked to turn their smartwatch off and place it in their backpack for the remainder of the school year.
There will be no school on Friday, March 1, 2024. Teachers will be engaged in a County-Wide Institute. Students will also be off school on Monday, March 4, 2024, in honor of Casimir Pulaski.

A message from the Bloomingdale School District Office:
As we move into the next phase of our community engagement program, we are hosting several public meetings to gather opinions from the community as we collaborate on a plan for the future of our schools.
We hope you will attend at least one of the following sessions:
7 pm Thursday, Feb. 22 at Westfield Middle School, 149 Fairfield Way.
10 am Saturday, Feb. 24 at Erickson Elementary School, 277 Springfield Drive.
7 pm Tuesday, Feb 27 at DuJardin Elementary School, 166 Euclid Avenue.
7 pm Thursday, Feb. 29 β virtual Zoom meeting. Please click HERE to register.
During the meetings, we will share information about our school district, the many successes our students have achieved, and the challenges we face complying with the stateβs mandate for full-day kindergarten and giving our students the 21st century learning environments they deserve.
Based on the communityβs responses during our first phase of community engagement, we have compiled a βmenuβ of potential individual projects, potential funding mechanisms, and potential funding levels, and we want to get your opinions on each of them. Your responses to the feedback forms at the end of these meetings will help determine our path forward.
We hope to see you at our upcoming community engagement sessions!
Sincerely,
Dr. Jon Bartelt
Superintendent, Bloomingdale School District 13
