March Family Newsletter
Principal's Corner
Dear Hallsville Intermediate Families,
How is it already March? This year has flown by! This month we continue with some testing to practice what STAAR will look like and how our procedures work. We will continue to be a closed campus on Mock STAAR testing dates. We take the Reading and Math assessments before Spring Break and 5th grade will take their Science assessment when we return.
This month we have set Wildly Important Goals and monitored our progress towards those. We are wrapping up those goals and setting ones to make it through the end of the year. We will keep these new WIGs digitally as we practice keeping a digital portfolio (every student will keep one next year). We've also covered perseverance with students the last couple of weeks. Ask your student did they meet their WIG? If so, what helped them reach their goal? If not, what was a challenge/barrier to being successful? What can they do differently? When things become tough, that's where we persevere through! Learning is not always easy so having a little grit goes a long way!
Thank you for your support and partnership,
Jennifer Hoskins, Principal

UIL - March Update
On Saturday, February 1, the Junior High and Intermediate fifth through eighth grade students participated in the District Middle School UIL meet held at Hallsville Junior High. There were seven schools represented by over 650 students providing some very tough competition.
The Bobcats came in First Place in the overall sweepstakes. Additionally, each grade was ranked according to their scores and the results were: 8th grade: First place, 7th grader: First place, 6th grade: First place, 5th grade: First place.
Congratulations to all of those students involved in the UIL teams! Be on the lookout for information on our end of year trip in May!
