Celebrating Catholic Education Week - "Courage to Lead"
The theme for Catholic Education Week 2024, “Courage to Lead,” reminds us of the call and the
responsibility to live and uphold the teachings of our Catholic faith, even amidst the challenges
of the world around us.
The letter from the Catholic Bishops of Alberta and NWT (see attached below in the Faith section) encourages us to be courageous and provide students with an education that challenges them academically and nurtures faith formation. The call to be courageous is deeply rooted in the Scriptures. In the Book of Joshua, the Lord counsels us: “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:9) Thank you for your unconditional support in providing Catholic Education for your children.
Blessings for a wonderful week,
Mrs. Kleparchuk & Mrs. Crowston

Mental Health Week
Mental Health Week is May 6-12, 2024 and this year’s theme is "healing with compassion" and how compassion connects us all. We are also celebrating Hats On For Mental Health Day on May 8th! We all have the capacity to be compassionate, and we know that doing so can make an enormous difference. This year’s Mental Health Week is centred on the healing power of compassion. In a world plagued by suffering, we emphasize that kindness is equally intrinsic to our humanity. Join us from May 6 to 12, 2024 to explore how compassion connects us all. (Canadian Mental Health Association, 2024).
We can all use a little more compassion, whether it’s at work, at school or in our day-to-day lives. Receiving compassion and showing compassion to ourselves and to others is particularly powerful for our mental health and well-being.
Benefits of Giving Compassion:
Easing depression
A spike in happiness

Prayer for Catholic Education
Heavenly Father, we thank you for the precious gift of Catholic Education.
As we celebrate Catholic Education Week, give us the grace to carry out our daily tasks with a positive attitude and an eagerness to learn more about you.
Help us to walk confidently in your footsteps so we can courageously lead others to your loving heart.
We ask this in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Starting a Social Media Conversation
Thank you to the School Council for sponsoring the Parent Session, which bridged the gap between parents' understanding and kids’ behaviour around social media. The parents who attended the session learned better questions to ask and came away with tools to engage in conversations about social media use. Tips and guidelines were provided so parents can make choices that will protect their kids while allowing them to enjoy the positive aspects of social media.
Our students in Grades 4-9 enjoyed having the social media conversation with Jo Phillips and learning more about social media presence and how they can have conversations with their parents about social media, gaming and their online presence. Be sure to ask your child what they learned, and if you have any questions about the presentation, please reach out to Admin.
You can check out more about having tips on having a social media conversation with Jo Phillips @jooutloud.
