The Guide to Reporting Student Achievement (GRSA) and School Education Plan (SEP) for the 2024-25 school year are available now! The GRSA explains how we assess student achievement, how we determine grades and more. The SEP details our school goals for the year—with key strategies and measures in achieving these outcomes. Thanks to Dave C who sent these photos of his son Dylan who joined him for Take our Kid to Work Day! We had all sorts of different experiences for our students, including an additional Principal at the school for the day, a Mr. Shudra Jr!

One of the school goals at Clover Bar is "Intentional focus on supporting students to develop and recognize how their student learning is building transferrable skills that will benefit their life outside of school."

On Tuesday, November 19 Dallas Arcand, a 3X World Champion Hoop Dancer will be at Clover Bar to share his knowledge, skills, and experience in Hoop Dancing with our students! They will have an opportunity to try hoop dancing, as well as have a demonstration!

The school fees for the 2024-25 school year for Clover Bar are now posted and active.

Wondering when and how to pay for school fees? School fee information for the 2024-25 school year will be posted on the PowerSchool Parent Portal in late September. All fees are due within 30 days of being posted. NOTE: Additional fees may be added throughout the year—for example, at the beginning of each semester, as your child takes part in various activities, or they may be adjusted by changes in selected optional courses in junior and senior high school. If you’re unable to pay your school fees, you can apply to have certain fees waived. The application deadline is Dec. 16, 2024.

We know that we are at our best when we are feeling our best. One strategy we want to promote is for students to be able to self-regulate so that when ups and downs occur, students have some self-regulation strategies to use, as well as understanding the why. Students can check out our hallway display or our ReSet space in the library for information and strategies!

Each year, school's have an Assurance Review with our Board of Trustees and Central Office Leadership. We have the opportunity to share our successes, challenges, and areas of growth from the previous year. We use our School Education Plan, as well as our Assurance Survey and EIPS Survey data to guide our conversations. This year we are presenting with the other Jr. High's on Wednesday, November 20.

Bullying Awareness and Prevention Week

Clover Bar will have a variety of activities for students all week that will include:

• A Clover Bar 'Nice Nation' selfie wall.
• Niceness stickies at lunch.
• Information in our Daily Announcements.
• Bullying Awareness and Prevention will be central in our ELA lessons and materials.
• Friday is mis-matched sock day to celebrate our individuality!

Research shows sustained, collaborative and job-embedded professional learning significantly enhances teacher efficacy and student achievement. Simply put, the more times teachers get to learn from one another during the year, the better it is for student success. Professional learning doesn’t mean a day off for staff—they improve upon their knowledge using time dedicated for collaboration, growth and relationship-building. This ensures students continue to receive high-quality education throughout the school year.

With the winter season almost here, we have a few reminders for families:

• Ensure students have clothing appropriate for expected weather conditions.
• If weather conditions are bad enough to impact student transportation, Elk Island Public Schools (EIPS) advises families directly, as well as posting on social media and eips.ca as early as possible.
• Decisions regarding bus cancellations are guided by an EIPS administrative procedure that states, “school bus service may be suspended…when there is a forecast or current temperature of -40 C, including wind chill factor, in one or more regions.”
• Other reasons for suspending or delaying school bus services include adverse weather and poor road conditions.
• When school bus services are suspended, schools remain open to students.

LASTING CONNECTIONS

Information for professionals to determine program fit: Lasting Connections is best suited for adult caregivers and youth experiencing conflict and challenges in their relationship, and, are looking to strengthen their bond. Caregivers could include parents, guardians or other family members responsible for the overall well-being of the youth, in grades 7-10.

Information for participants:

Caregivers and youth will come together for a shared meal before separating into two sessions; one for the caregivers and one for the youth. The session will end with everyone coming back together as a larger group and engaging in some activities where families can practice their skills in a safe and fun environment.
