Week 5 Term 4 SFDS Newsletter

TRACY'S MESSAGE
Kia Ora Ano
It is really hard to believe that we are halfway through the final school term for 2021!
Last week our kura celebrated book character week with Kaiako going to other classes to read their favourite books. On Wednesday we all dressed up as book characters and paraded around so that everyone could see! It was so much fun and the energy around our place was electric!
A huge thank you to our Ranginui organisers…true student leadership in action! Check-out the attached amazing pictures of our celebration and of our SFDS values award winners and house related awards.

Yesterday our kura was very lucky to be able to be an audience for our Papatuanuku team. Papatuanuku have been taking part in an arts rotation and wanted to share their learning. Some serious learning and talent from body percussion, singing, raku and dancing was an absolute phenomenal performance! This was recorded and will be available to share soon.
Our school complies 100% with the mandated health order and just a reminder that at COVID level 2 no whānau are allowed into our classrooms and we are limiting the numbers of non-staff on our site.
Please ensure that if you need to come into school that you are wearing a mask, scan in and sanitize. If you need to collect your tamariki during the day, please pop into the office and our lovely team will go and collect your tamariki from their class.
Please see below a message from new Principal Mary-Angela Tombs.
Have a wonderful day and take care.

WELLINGTON SOUTHERN BAYS HISTORICAL SOCIETY COLLECTION
The Community Centre Collections is open each Friday from 10am till 2pm, members and visitors are most welcome.
We have a large collection of files of all aspects of the southern bays, with displays set up during the hours we are open.
We are always pleased to receive any old photographs or written material that we can copy and return or we can give them a good home if they are no longer required.
We have two folders recording items about ordinary folk in the Southern Bays. We would appreciate any obituaries, eulogies or funeral leaflets of Southern Bays’ people that we could add to these folders. Please post them to the Secretary or drop them off at the Community Centre on a Friday between 10am and 2pm.
We are always looking for volunteers to assist on Fridays with the Collection. Gill,Ryrie and Chris Rabey are already working with the Collections on Fridays, but need additional members to assist if they are unavailable. You help would be much appreciated!
