Dear TFS Families,
Welcome new and returning families. One more week and our amazing Hawks start school on 8/29/24. On 8/26, educators return to setup their learning spaces. On 8/27 and 8/28, educators will participate in professional development with our TFS Hawks Hello/Meet and Greet scheduled from 2-3 on Wednesday 8/28.
We have much to be thankful for:
- Thanks to the PTTF for new playground seating and new gaga pits for our two playgrounds
- Thanks to our custodians and maintenance staff for keeping our schools clean and shiny.
- Thanks to Kim in the front office for keeping our school afloat in the summer
- Thanks to staff who have come in for meetings and developed schedules/resources for the school year.
- Thanks to our district partners for ensuring we have the right instructional materials, assessments and supplies.
- Thanks to our tech team for updating computers and ipads for student use.
- Thanks to our HR department for supporting new hires and onboarding.
In this newsletter, please see the reminders about important dates, key information on arrival and dismissal procedures and highlights for the 24/25 year.
We willl continue to focus on improving academic outcomes for students and ensuring our students and families feel: a strong sense of belonging, safety, and kindness in our school. We are in our second year, where our students will learn and practice our six behavioral agreements of: safety, responsible community member, courage, mindful, respecting differences and value.
Our motto has been refreshed with a focus on "Belong, Believe and Be Your Best". We will highlight more about this throughout the year. Thank you to Kate Viands for creating an image of our new Hawks' mascot based on one of the hawks that visited our school in June.
Please stay connected to TFS via our facebook page, instragram, website and these Hawks Happenings (sent every two weeks to families).
Stay tuned for more communications in the next couple weeks from the school and your child's teacher. We look forward to an amazing, productive and joyful year!
Go Hawks,

Arrival and Dismissal Procedures and Reminders -
Anyone who has had a child at our school knows that one of the most challenging times of our day is arrival and dismissal. Our school was built in 1968 and it was not designed to accommodate today's volume and size of vehicles. Please read below for the procedures for arrival and dismissal. PK is different than K-4.
Due to the high volume of car arrival and car pickup, we have significant challenges with traffic and safety. Please, please have your child take the bus as this will improve our safety during these busy times. In future communications, we will provide more information and visuals about arrival and dismissal. Just a reminder, during dismissal, "walkers" will be walked out of the school at approximately 3:00. Thanks in advance for your grace in the first month of school as we practice and review our routines and procedures.
Please call the TFS Office if you have any questions or concerns.
Go Hawks,
Julie and Brooke
