Dr. Hudson's Weekly Family Message
March 31, 2025

Cedar Hill ISD Families & Community,
I was honored to see that the Cedar Hill City Council issued a proclamation to honor Autism Awareness Month, which begins tomorrow in the month of April.
Cedar Hill ISD Executive Director of Special Education Derica Turner was on hand for this special honor. Turner and her dedicated staff of SPED Educators are deeply committed to working with their scholars, including the Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Community.
April serves as an important opportunity to raise awareness, promote understanding, and foster an environment of acceptance and inclusion for everyone within our community.
One in every 54 children in the United States has Autism, and each individual with autism has their own unique set of strengths and challenges. Autism Awareness Month is about recognizing and embracing these children and working together to create an inclusive and supportive environment for all.
CHISD's goal is to inspire kindness, empathy, and understanding, as well as to provide our scholars and staff with the tools to create a supportive and welcoming atmosphere for everyone, regardless of ability.
We encourage families, staff, and scholars to take part in activities that promote awareness and acceptance of autism. Whether it's through wearing blue, sharing educational resources, or engaging in conversations about autism, your participation makes a difference in creating a more inclusive world.
Together, we can make CHISD a place where every individual feels valued and supported. I encourage everyone to learn more about autism and support those in need.
Thank you for your ongoing support as we work toward building a more inclusive and compassionate community for all scholars.

Horns Show Up!
Daily student attendance is vital—it not only fuels academic success but also directly impacts school funding. Every day a student is present strengthens their learning journey and ensures our schools have the necessary resources to provide quality education. When students show up, they grow, and our schools thrive!
For the final 2 six weeks periods for the 2024-25 school year, CHISD staff and students will place a greater focus on the importance of daily attendance.
