Dr. Niyati Kataria Opens WFISD & MSU Business Lecture Tour at Memorial
Dr. Niyati Kataria, Associate Professor of Management at Midwestern State University, kicked off the WFISD & MSU Business Lecture Tour with an eye-opening presentation to Memorial High School students on the flawed nature of perception. Using visuals and a thought-provoking video, she challenged how we interpret the world, highlighting how different people can view the same situation differently yet still be correct.
As part of a community outreach initiative led by Dr. Sanchari Choudhury, Director of the Mamie Raborn Center for Economic Education—an arm of the Dillard College of Business Administration focused on enhancing economic literacy within the university and among North Texas residents—the presentation encouraged students to critically examine their mental shortcuts, or "schemas," by asking, "What might I be missing?" and "How might I be biased?"
The event inspired students to consider diverse perspectives and sharpen their critical thinking skills. Reference: MSUTEXAS.edu
The WFISD & MSU Business Lecture Tour is designed to connect high school students with university faculty members, providing them with access to innovative ideas and real-world applications of business concepts. Dr. Kataria’s presentation was the first in a series of lectures aimed at equipping students to become thoughtful, informed citizens and future leaders.
