Mr. Smith's Scoop π¦
Happy Friday!
Next week our students will engage in our mid-year Fastbridge (Reading) and MAP (Math). These assessments are very important in helping us determine if our students have learned what has been taught during the first part of the year. This information helps us make decisions on instruction, grouping, interventions, and enrichments. Please speak with your son/daughter about these up-and-coming assessments. Your interest in the assessments will further firm up the importance of using all that they have learned to βshow what they know.β
Next week, we have two exciting family events planned! On Wednesday, December 11, join us for the K-1 Winter Music Concert at 5:30 PM at The Madison Center for the Arts. Please note that the K-1 Art Show has been postponed due to the art display boards not being available that evening. Kindergarten and 1st-grade teachers will be sharing updated information about the art show with parents soon.
On Friday, December 13, we invite you to our Annual Holiday Drive-Through from 5:30 to 7:00 PM at Camelview. Decorate your vehicle and join the fun as you drive through to enjoy holiday lights, festive trees, and a visit from Santa! Donβt forget to place your card placard in the front window so Santa can greet the children by name. The best-decorated vehicle will win a special prize and bragging rights. We look forward to celebrating with you!
Have a wonderful weekend.

Β‘Feliz viernes!
Β‘Esperamos celebrar contigo!
Que tengas un maravilloso fin de semana.

Building Emotional Intelligence with RULER
Have you heard of RULER? Itβs a powerful framework that helps us understand, use, and manage our emotions effectively. As a school, We are excited to share how RULER is helping our students develop crucial social and emotional skills.
What is RULER?
RULER is an acronym for:
- Recognizing our emotions
- Understanding our emotions
- Labeling our emotions
- Expressing our emotions
- Regulating our emotions
By teaching students these skills, we empower them to:
- Build stronger relationships
- Improve academic performance
- Reduce stress and anxiety
- Make better decisions
- Resolve conflicts peacefully
RULER is being integrated into our school culture through:
- Classroom lessons: Teachers incorporate RULER into their lessons to teach students about emotions and how to manage them.
- Social-emotional learning activities: Students participate in activities that help them practice RULER skills, such as mindfulness exercises, role-playing, and group discussions.
- Positive behavior interventions and supports: RULER is used to teach students positive behavior strategies and to address challenging behavior.
By fostering emotional intelligence, weβre creating a more positive and supportive learning
environment for all students.
Fresh News from the Cafeteria!
π Got a Birthday Coming Up? Purchase a Birthday Box! π
Our cafeteria can provide birthday boxes at a very low cost. This reduces the impact on classroom learning time (every minute counts), reduces the likelihood of ants in classrooms and creates a fun celebration during lunch times. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1tkA7cxvKb4gCb7RDTtE2mxsgSZzxXMui/view?usp=sharing
