I am happy to report that Parent-Teacher conferences at SHS were well attended. If you were unable to attend and would like to check in with your students’ teacher please do not hesitate to email them. With winter exams just 18 days away, now is a great time to make sure you and students’ are prepared for successful exams.

Journalism Class
The Sandwich High School Journalism class was the recipient of the Walsworth Gallery of Excellence Award. Our yearbook will be featured at both state and national conventions. Congratulations to Mrs. Heilemeier and her students, Max Cryer, Johanna Freemon, Jackson Heilemeier, Miya Klossing, Erin Lissman, and Ashlyn Strenz.

The ILMEA District 8 Jazz Festival was November 11. Zech Karunakaran made the Senior I Jazz Band and Grace Anderson and Isaac Ortega made the Vocal Jazz Ensemble. The ILMEA District 8 Festival was November 18, and Carina Swanson, Ruby Ferguson, and Evan Groat made the District 8 Band and Caroline Gomes, Jocelyn Carr, and Isaac Ortega made the District 8 Choir.

Franklin Mall Food Drive
The Franklin Mall Food Drive is an event District 430 is proud to support. Food donations collected during the month of November will benefit families in our community. Sandwich High School Student Council will have a donation bin located at door 1 and door 18. Parents and students are welcome to make a canned/boxed food donation when here for conferences.

Senior Cap and Gown Order
If you missed the in-person order date for the cap and gown, jostens.com is where you can order your senior students' graduation package. Lunch Initiative
Please help continue with our initiative that allows students to bring in item(s) that are sealed for the cafeteria. The items can not be opened and the item(s) will be put in a bin to allow other students to grab the item(s) for free. The purpose of this initiative is for students who may not have the financial means to get additional food items other than a typical lunch. All donated, sealed items can be dropped off in the main office.
Free and Reduced Breakfast/Lunch
The carry over period for students who were receiving free/reduced lunch for the 2022-2023 school year ended on September 27, 2023. If a new 2023-2024 application was not received your child was automatically put on paid breakfast and lunch effective September 28, 2023.

New Safety Procedure
Sandwich High School values a safe educational environment for our staff and students. Sandwich High School has a great opportunity to pilot a new process when visitors come to the main office. No persons other than the parent/guardian, parent designee, legal guardian, government officials, those pursuant to warrant or subpoena, or school personnel will have permission to see a student during school hours without being verified by showing a drivers license/state issued ID.
All visitors or venders who may need to go beyond the office are required to display a visitors’ badge during their stay and must provide a driver's license/state issued ID to be scanned in order to generate a name badge/ lanyard.Visitors must be escorted at all times while in the building.
Communication from the High School
Sandwich High School will generally email a bi-monthly newsletter. The purpose of this communication will be to highlight the latest things going on at school while also keeping you up to date on future events.

Student Drivers
Students are not allowed to drive and park at school unless they have a parking permit. Parking passes cost $95 for the 2023-2024 school year.
Reminders
If dropping off a student at Sandwich High School, students who are walking through the parking lot have the right away.
Just a reminder to students and parents, outside food deliveries must be left on the entry table in the front vestibule. Students will not be released from class for food deliveries.
Student drop off and pick up is at the back of the school (door #1).
Also, when a stop arm is out on a bus, it is illegal to pass it.

Phones and Book Bags
While phones and book bags are permitted at SHS, each teacher has a unique classroom management system. Phones and book bags in the classroom will be at the discretion of the individual teacher.
