Weekly Happenings at Southeastern Elementary
Principal's Posting
Welcome to the May 16th, 2025, edition of Explorer Echo.
Dear Southeastern Families,
As Spring approaches, we know that many of our families are thinking about next school year. With this comes an urge to make special requests for specific teachers. Southeastern cannot honor teacher requests by name due to the unique make up of classrooms and change of teacher placements. We strive to select the best learning environment for your child to thrive. We value your input and offer this form (below) for you to share your thoughts. Due to the high number of emails received, our administration team will not be responding to e-mails with these special requests but encourage you to take the time to complete this form for your child. Thank you for partnering with us at Southeastern Elementary!

Nurse's Notes
If your child has medication in the school clinic, arrangements must be made for the transport of this medication home, as student medication cannot be stored over the summer break. According to Indiana Code 20-34-3-18, a school may send home medication with a student if parent provides written permission for the student to receive the medication. We have attached the permission slip for student transport of medication (see blow). Please sign and return to the clinic if you give permission to send it home at the last day of school. Of course you have the option to pick it up but it must be picked up by end of day on 5/28.

WHAT NEEDS TO BE RETURNED?
All students will return their rented HSE iPad and the standard cover (grades K – 4) or keyboard cover (grades 5 - 8).
WHAT ABOUT CHARGING BRICKS, CORDS AND HEADPHONE ADAPTERS?
Cords and bricks, will not be collected. If you are a new HSE iPad user, you are welcome to keep the cord and brick that were issued to you. Repeat HSE iPad users will not receive a new cord and brick. You may continue to use the cord and brick initially provided to you or you may provide your own. For KG, 5th and 9th grades, you will not only keep the cord/brick but also the headphone adapter.
WHAT DO I NEED TO DO TO PREPARE THE IPAD FOR RETURN?
Please take a date/time stamped picture of your students iPad, while the screen is on with the student’s login information visible. We ask that families follow the directions in the link below to prepare the iPad for return. It is important that families follow all steps in the link. It is important that families DO NOT erase/reset the iPad on their own. HSE Technology will be responsible for removing the Apple ID before the device is erased/reset. HSE Technology will perform this if not returning the same device to that student.
WHAT IF THE IPAD IS DAMAGED? WHAT ARE THE FEES?
A thorough inspection will assess the working condition of the iPad and cover/keyboard and images will be taken to document such damage. Any damage to the iPad and/or cover/keyboard may result in fees being assessed to the student’s Skyward account. Following inspection, the iPad will be stored for the summer.
Sample fees that could be applied to the student’s Skyward account:
- Missing/Damaged Standard iPad cover for K-4 - $35
- Missing/Damaged Clear, Plastic Overlay that covers screen for K-4 - $10
