Character Strong
Our character strong trait for March is cooperation. Please open this link to see how your student is learning about cooperation. This month’s focus is Cooperation. One way to think about Cooperation is “working together to reach shared goals.” Throughout the school, students will be developing skills like perspective-taking, conflict resolution, and leadership.
Edina Public Schools and VEAP
Edina Public Schools is partnering with VEAP, the Twin Cities largest food pantry, to raise food and funds for local families in need. Please join us March 17-21 as we work to fully stock VEAP’s pantry and support them with financial gifts! With the help of area businesses, organizations, and other school districts, VEAP is aiming high to raise a total of $300,000 and 75,000 pounds of food during this critical spring drive. Every item and dollar have a huge impact: $10 allows VEAP to distribute the equivalent of 30 meals. Thank you for you and your student’s help! During our 2024 drive, Edina collected over 11,000 lbs of food and $8,200 in donations, so let’s beat that number this year, Hornets!
Valley View VIBE 5K
The Valley View VIBE 5K on May 3rd! HERE is the link. We are SO pumped to be hosting what we hope will turn into a legacy, annual event for Edina. Kids are making the medals (3D printing, ceramics, and glazing) and we have all types of food trucks, DJs, T Shirts etc at the event. It will be a BLAST of an experience and we hope you and your community can make it. There is a little lap (250 yards) and a toddler trot (50 yards) for the little ones.
Music Informance Announcement
Visitors Welcome in Mrs. Widen's Music Classes!
Did you know that March is Music in our Schools Month? To celebrate, Mrs. Widen would love to invite visitors to attend music class with their child between March 10-28. It will be an "informance"—an informative and informal performance! You'll get to see how your child learns in music and participate and play along with us.
Please look for a sign-up genius link from Mrs. Widen through Talking Points which will allow you to RSVP for the date you'd like to attend your child's class. In the meantime, here is Mrs. Widen's Weekly Schedule so you can look for your child's class and see which day and time they have music and start planning when you'd like to come! Please note—Mrs. Widen teaches 1st grade, Discovery 2, 3, 4, 5 and CP 4-5 classes.
If you have any questions or would like more information about this, reach out to Katie Widen at Katherine.Widen@edinaschools.org.

Lost and Found

Thank you for labeling items so they can easily be returned to their owners. It helps to keep the lost items to a minimum. We will be donating the unclaimed items more frequently throughout the year to keep it more manageable.
Health Office
Thank you to our 2nd grade families for your invaluable contribution to a groundbreaking research project during the 2023-2024 school year. Your willingness to opt-in and allow your children to participate helped our Licensed School Nurses contribute to research published in a national medical journal!
In partnership with Otolaryngologists from Children’s Minnesota, we implemented new hearing screenings for students. This important research would not have been possible without your support and participation.
The impact is already being felt district-wide. As a result of this work, Edina Health Services received a grant to purchase advanced tablet-based hearing equipment for all schools, improving the accuracy and efficiency of screenings.
Additionally, our health staff continues collaborating with Children’s Minnesota on research involving the STARR Protocol in Minnesota Elementary Schools, working to remove health-related barriers and help every student thrive.
Your participation has advanced pediatric healthcare and greatly benefited our school community. We deeply appreciate your support. Thank you again!
Please support your student by reminding them that no toys (including Pokemon cards) are allowed at school. This will help eliminate distractions during learning. Thank you for your help.
