DECEMBER: Courage - Zoongide’ewin (zoon ga day’ ay’ win)
Bravery is represented by the bear. The mother bear has the courage and strength to face her fears and challenges while protecting her young. The bear also shows us how to live a balanced life with rest, survival, and play. To face life with courage is to know bravery. Find your inner strength to face the difficulties of life and the courage to be yourself. Defend what you believe in and what is right for your community, family, and self. Make positive choices and have conviction in your decisions. Face your fears to allow yourself to live your life.

Flex Learning - Weather/Snow Days
If winter weather impacts school this season, DLPS may call a "Flex Learning Day". Classroom teachers have sent home learning materials and plans for Flex Learning at each grade level.
Flex-Learning Guidelines for K-5 Students/Families
General Information:
Teachers will send Flex-Learning Day materials and instructions home in advance. (Lessons will provide students choice about which activities to complete and how to demonstrate learning.)
Students and parents can contact teachers during school hours by email or SeeSaw.
Teachers will check and respond to email and voicemail during school hours to address student and parent questions.
Students will be provided 2 additional days after the Flex-Learning Day to get necessary teacher assistance to complete work.
Parents will be notified of the procedure.
Student and Parent/Guardian’s Role in Flex-Learning Day:
Parents will have the teacher’s contact information and communicate if questions arise or the student needs assistance.
Parents will review the instructions for Flex-Learning sent home from the teacher.
For attendance purposes, e-learning activities must be completed and paper returned to school or a picture uploaded to Seesaw.
Snow Pants - Mittens - Hats
Dear Families,
If you have extra or out-grown winter gear in your home, please consider donating items to our Rossman Winter Closet!
We need snow pants (sizes 6-12), hats, and warm gloves/mittens.
Items can be dropped off in the Rossman office.
Thank you!
A Note from the Health Office
A few reminders as we enter the cold and flu season:
- Reinforce hand washing, our most effective way to limit the spread of germs.
- Remind your child to cover their coughs. It's best to cough into a tissue or their elbow.
- Make sure you and your children are up to date with vaccinations.
- Regular cleaning and sanitizing of household high touch areas.
- As a general guideline, keep your child home 24 hours from the last fever (without medicine), vomiting or diarrhea episode.

Call the office with messages for your child's teacher during the school day. While teachers use Seesaw and email to send information and communicate, their day is extremely busy and urgent messages through Seesaw/email might not be read in a timely manner. In the event a substitute is teaching the class, that Seesaw/email message will not be seen by the sub. The best way to communicate during the school day is through the school office. Call 218-847-9268
If your student is absent, call the Rossman Office at 218-847-9268 and leave a message on the attendance line. The attendance assistant will call parents if we haven't received a message regarding a student's absence by 9:00 AM.
Visitors are welcome! As a courtesy, please contact your child's teacher to pre-arrange your visit. Teachers love classroom volunteers and parent helpers. If you are interested in volunteering, contact the office or your student's teacher directly. Visitors will be required to sign in and wear a "Visitor" badge while in the building.
**Dismissal Changes Reminder**
Please call the Rossman office by 2:30 PM to communicate any dismissal changes.
