State Assessments Begin Next Week
Get Rest and Test Your Best!
Beginning March 10th our students in grades 3-8 will be participating in the statewide Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR) in ELA (reading) and math. Science assessments will take place after Spring Break. These state assessments are used to measure student performance in public schools. In addition, results identify strengths and areas of improvement for ELA and Math throughout Zion Elementary School District 6 and contribute to our district's Illinois State Report Card.

For Summer 2025, ZESD 6 is expanding options for our students to participate within our D6 Summer Camp!
June 9 - July 17
8:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
Monday-Thursday
West Elementary School

- Enrollment is based on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Students can participate in more than one program if calendar dates do not overlap.
- Seats are limited.
- Consistent student attendance is crucial to ensure every students benefits fully from this programming.
- Breakfast and lunch provided for attending students
- Transportation provided to designated bus stops.
Program Options Available
STEAM Programming (Entering grades 3-8)
Focus on fun, hands-on experiences in science, technology, engineering, arts and math through engaging projects and activities.
Program runs:
June 9 –18, 2025 (grades 3-5)
June 23-July 17, 2025 (grades 6-8)
Kindergarten Readiness (Entering Kindergarten)
Focus on skills to ready your child for Kindergarten.
For fully registered Kindergarten students WITHOUT ANY PRIOR SCHOOL EXPERIENCE.
Program runs:
June 9 –July 17, 2025
Music Makers Band Camp (Entering Grades 6-8)
- Students provided an instrument during camp.
- Up to 30 seats per instrument.
- Students can sign up for multiple sessions if interested.

Saxophone & Clarinet Camp: June16-18,2025
Trumpet and French Horn Camp: June 23-26, 2025
Trombone, Baritone, and Tuba Camp: July 7-10, 2025

Spotted At ZESD 6
- On Monday evening, Shiloh Park Middle School’s gymnasium filled with families and community members eager to discuss and learn more about a proposed Educare center, which would serve children from six weeks old through kindergarten. The event provided another valuable opportunity for attendees to voice their opinions, offer suggestions, and engage in conversations about the future learning space.
- The ZCMS girls’ basketball teams took to the paint Monday evening in the ZCMS gymnasium against Smith Middle School. Both the sixth/seventh-grade team and the eighth-grade team gave it their all, with the sixth/seventh-grade team rallying a win at the end of the game.
- Our staff focused on wellness with Amy Hamilton and Jenny Cutlan on Tuesday evening in West Elementary's gymnasium! From relaxation techniques and diet tips to fun games like mini-pickleball and giant ball volleyball, they left feeling refreshed and motivated .Each participant was encouraged to start their wellness path by setting one wellness goal, finding an accountability partner, and creating a mantra to stay focused.
- ZESD 6 hosted a Career and Technical Education (CTE) event Thursday evening at ZCMS, featuring vendors and professionals from local career fields who shared insights about their roles in the community. The event also highlighted student projects from CTE classes, showcasing the skills they’ve been developing.
- The SPMS and ZCMS bands and orchestras joined forces Wednesday night at the Christ Community Church auditorium for their “Cinematic Sounds” concert. Students from various grade levels performed an entertaining blend of classic and contemporary instrumental pieces, delighting the audience throughout the evening.
