Everitt Middle School Community,
I expect a very tired and very sunburned group of musicians and performers to return in the next few minutes from their day at Elitch's. After their amazing concert last night, I hope they have had an amazing day at the park. I love the last concert of the year. It is so cool to see the growth in the ensembles and in each individual musician/performer throughout the year. Our choirs, bands, and orchestras sang and played with confidence and demonstrated new levels of musicality. I'm sure you were all as proud of them as I was.
Next week is our final Spirit Week of the year. Please remind your children to participate so their grade level can win the coveted spirit award at our spirit assembly on the following Monday.
Thank you for all you did this week to celebrate our teachers and staff! From coffee gift cards to a snack cart to breakfast, you spoiled us! If you didn't get a chance to celebrate your child's teachers, please feel free to continue the celebration. Teachers always appreciate notes of appreciation about the difference they are making or have made in your children's lives.
As we head toward the end of the year, I wanted to make note of a couple of upcoming events:
- 8th grade continuation is at 6:30 on May 22nd. We hold our continuation outside (weather permitting). Please plan to bring lawn chairs and/or blankets to sit on the hill. Students usually dress up for this event although that is not required.
- Award ceremonies are coming, too. We will be sending invitations to individual families to let you know if your child is receiving an award next week.
- Our 8th grade field trip to Bowlero is coming up, too. Talk with your child about requirements to attend the field trip.
- Finally, we do an early release day on the last day of school for 6th and 7th grade students. We will feed them a hotdog lunch prior to dismissal.
Thank you for supporting and believing in your neighborhood school. It is our privilege to partner with you!

Family Engagement Corner
Hello Everitt families,
I hope you all had a great week, and we have some lovely weather to look forward to this weekend. I also want to say thank you to the PTA for all the treats we received this week for staff appreciation!
As we get nearer to the end of the year, I catch myself reflecting on my time at Everitt and the relationships I've built and families I've connected to in my role as family liaison. I am so grateful to be able to have real conversations with you and get to know you and your students.
Part of my job is to help facilitate 2-way Communication as part of the 6 National Standards for Family School Partnership. Please never hesitate to reach out if there is a need or concern. I can help get you to the right person.
I took a few minutes to create a word cloud from your responses from the Panorama Family Survey, "What does your school do to keep you connected" (I'm paraphrasing). I loved these responses. I also included all the different ways Everitt can communicate with families, with a friendly reminder to keep your contact information up to date in Infinite Campus.

PTA CORNER
PTA (PARENT TEACHER ASSOCIATION) CORNER:
Our focus is on building lasting connections between families, getting to know our student’s teachers, and creating opportunities to come together as a community, valuing our diversity and celebrating our differences.
End of the School Year!
As we quickly approach the end of the school year, we want to thank everyone who has attended meetings, donated time, money, food, shared a meal at Soup’s On, or watched a movie on the lawn, and tasted new foods at International Night. It is our differences that make our community strong!
We are looking for parents and guardians interested in being more involved by running for a position on the PTA Board or as the School Accountability Committee (SAC) Chair. Please reach out to the PTA for more information.
Lastly, if you have a 6th or 7th grade student and want to help at the 8th grade continuation serving cake and drinks also send a note to EverittPTA@gmail.com. Continuation is on Thursday, May 22nd at 6:30pm.
We hope you have some time to relax and connect with families and friends over the summer months and we look forward to seeing you over the summer in the community, at Camp Everitt, the Carnation Festival, or Back to School Night!
