Family Info Night: Dual Enrollment/Junior Advisement/11th Grade
Please join us as we will be discussing Dual Enrollment, Junior Advisement, and 11th grade information for our CHS families. Our presentation will be broken into sections. If you just want to learn about Dual Enrollment, we will begin at 6:00pm. Then at 6:30pm we will transition to information related to our upcoming Junior Advisement meetings with each 11th grade student.

Junior Advisement is HERE!
The Campbell Counseling Department will be holding Junior Advisement (JA) appointments from October- December beginning the week of October 9-13. All Campbell 11th grade students will receive his/her letter with the specific time & date of appointment during HR/Advisement on October 6.
During the Junior Advisement meeting, each 11th grader will complete and receive the following information to help plan for the studentโs individual post-secondary destination:
-Update the Individual Graduate Plan (IGP) to review remaining graduation requirements
**This is NOT course registration!
-Review resources to plan for post-secondary destinations and future
-Verify SSN in CCSD system (this must be correct for HOPE eligibility)
-Receive a copy of unofficial transcript & current HOPE GPA report
-Email will be sent after the meeting to the enrolling adult and student with resources

Family members who wish to attend in person, please arrive early to allow time for you to check-in with the front office. Family members who would like to participate remotely have the option of a phone conference to follow along with our Junior Advisement Checklist including all topics covered in the JA meeting. Due to the high number of individual appointments, the counseling office is unable to reschedule junior advisement appointments.

Senior Seminar sessions were conducted with all of our seniors. Post-secondary options (work-force/Apprenticeship, military, college), Naviance and Scholarships were presented to all 12th graders.
Campbell HS Naviance Tools for the College Application Process
Step 1: Logging into your Naviance Account
1. Go to www.cobbk12.org
2. At the top click on โFind It Fastโ in the top right hand corner
3. Click โNavianceโ
4. Use your office 365 credentials to log in
a. Username: FirstName.LastName@students.cobbk12.org
b. Password: Use the personal password you use to log into any Cobb computer
Step 2: Add your personal email address
Go to the ABOUT ME tab. Under โMy Accountโ, add your email address to your contact information. YOU ONLY NEED TO DO THIS ONCE!
Step 3: Match your Common App Account (only if you are applying to schools on the Common App โ If none of the schools you are applying to are on the Common App you can skip this step)
1. Click on โCollegesโ and โColleges Iโm Applying Toโ
2. If your Common App is NOT matched, you will see a red section near the top of the screen
3. Click the button that says โMatch Accountโ on the right side
4. Follow instructions
Step 4: Add colleges to the โColleges Iโm Applying toโ List
1. Go to โColleges Iโm Applying toโ list (If you have matched your Common App, the schools on your Common App should be already added in Naviance)
2. Select the blue plus sign to add a college to the application list, search for the school
3. Select application type (example: RD, ED, EA, etc.)
4. Select how you will submit your application (ex. Common App, Direct to the Institution)
5. Select add application; continue steps for more colleges
Step 5: Requesting your Transcript
1. Once you have applied to college and added them on your โColleges Iโm Applying toโ list, you can click โRequest Transcriptsโ and click Initial Transcript.
2. We highly recommend that you submit your COLLEGE APPLICATION FIRST. Then log into Naviance to request your high school transcript.
3. You can track the status in your Naviance account.
4. If you attended a college for dual enrollment, you need to go directly to that college to request your dual enrollment transcript to be sent to the colleges you are applying to.
Step 6: Request a Letter of Rec from a Teacher
1. Talk to your teacher BEFORE submitting a request
2. Click on โCollegesโ
3. Click on โLetters of Recommendationโ
4. Click โAdd Requestโ
5. Select a teacher from the drop-down menu
6. Decide if you want that teacher to send a letter to all colleges you apply to or to a specific college
7. Include the deadline in the notes section and tell your teacher thank you!
8. Notify the teacher once your request is submitted.
Step 7: Request a Letter of Rec from your Counselor
1. Be aware that not all schools require a counselor recommendation. Make sure you know which schools need the counselor rec.
2. If you need a Counselor recommendation, scroll down on the main page in Naviance to look for โTasks from My Schoolโ. Complete the task titled โCounselor LOR Student Infoโ.
IMPORTANT NOTE FOR LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION: Please give teachers and counselors at least 10 school daysโ notice prior to a deadline. DO NOT WAIT UNTIL THE DAY BEFORE THE RECOMMENDATION IS DUE TO ASK FOR THE LETTER!

HBCU Week College Fair
Hosted by the Sallie Mae Fund will be held at the Cobb Galleria Centre on October 6, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
High school students are encouraged to attend to learn about HBCUs and scholarship opportunities.
Savannah State University
Open Campus Tour on October 28, 2023. The SSUNAA Metro Atlanta Chapter will charter a bus for students to attend. There is a fee to ride the bus. Please see the flyer for details.

Counselors met the week of September 18 to review High School Graduation Requirements, promotion requirements, tips for success in high school and lots more!

Counselors will be visiting 10th grade ELA classes October 3rd to review important information.
