What's Happening @ Eagle Hills Elementary
January 2025
Hello Eagle Hills Parents and Families
Let me begin by wishing you all a Happy New Year filled with many successes and lots of love from those closest to you. During winter break, I hope you had the chance to catch up with friends and family and enjoy some rest and relaxation.
As we approach the holiday honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., I am reminded of one of my favorite quotes of his, “Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.”
One of the things I appreciate most about our Eagle Hills' staff is that we are not silent about the things that matter. Together, we continue to provide a high-quality education for all our students. As we ring in the new year, we are taking the opportunity to check in with students and families to ensure that our students are on-track, and prepared and ready for the second half of the school year.
Eagle Hills continues to be a school focused on educational excellence for all. We strive to find unique and innovative ways to partner with our families and create opportunities for our students that make our neighborhood school a place where all children enjoy learning. As always, thank you for your continued support.
Mr. Anderson

Welcome Detective Tyler Masters as Your New School Resource Officer
We are excited to announce that Detective Tyler Masters from the Ada County Sheriff’s Office will be joining us as your new School Resource Officer (SRO), effective January 7, 2025. Detective Masters will be working with our schools to support safety, build positive relationships with students, and foster a welcoming environment for everyone.

His dedication to community service and passion for working with children make him an excellent fit for this role. We are confident he will be a valuable resource for our schools.
A special thank you to Geoff Stands for his efforts in securing the grant that made this addition possible. His hard work has truly made a difference for our schools and community.
Thank you for your ongoing support, and we look forward to welcoming Detective Masters to our schools in January.
Eagle Hills Special Education Program Candy Cane Fundraiser
Eagle Hills Special Education held their annual Candy Cane Fundraiser this December and it was huge success! This fundraiser helped support the needs of the SPED students by providing funds for program supplies. Such needed supplies include sensory items for child development, flexible seating, reinforcers, books, and learning materials for each students' unique needs. Your support in this fundraiser was greatly appreciated and makes an extreme impact for those students in the program.
An extra special thanks to those who donated extra funding beyond the candy cane purchases!

Inclement Weather and School Closures
West Ada’s “snow patrol” begins monitoring conditions as early as 3:00 A.M. to assess road safety and determine if closures are necessary. Decisions are communicated district-wide by 5:30 A.M. via the channels listed above.
If hazardous conditions arise, parents who feel travel is unsafe are encouraged to keep their child home and notify the school.
We will communicate any changes through our automated phone messages and official channels, including:

Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our communication channels effective and up to date. We appreciate your partnership as we navigate winter together.
Lost and Found 🧥
Our Lost and Found is located in the front of the school each day. If you think you are missing something, please come by and look through our growing selection. If your student's name is located on a Lost and Found item, we will return the item to the student. Uncollected items will be donated to local charities on Friday, January 17th.
Attendance
Timely school attendance is one of the greatest factors in determining student academic success. With this in mind, please make every effort to have your student(s) here on time when school is in session. Eagle Hills teachers are very intentional with their lesson planning and delivery. Every absence impacts your child's learning and the learning of others in his/her class.
We realize that there are times when students need to be absent for a variety of reasons. If your child will be absent from school, please communicate with your child's teacher AND the office. The office may be reached at eaglehillses@westada.org or 208.350.4090.
Volunteer Application
All parents and family members who wish to volunteer at Eagle Hills for any reason must submit a volunteer application form and corresponding documents to our school office. If you are interested in volunteering this year, please take time to read, print, sign and return the documents listed below to the school office. You may also find hard copies of these documents here at Eagle Hills.
For more information regarding volunteer policies in the West Ada School District access the WASD Volunteer Handbook here.
Computers
We have limited computers to loan out to students who leave their devices at home. Often students who forget their computers have to go a day without access to important lesson materials. Please make checking backpacks for computers and chargers a part of your morning and/or evening routine each day.
After School Pick Up Process
You all are doing a great job with student pick-up after school. Please see below of an updated map of our parking lot and the "flow" for parent parking.
