All students & staff united for a picture celebrating the start of a new school year!

We are looking forward to sharing your children’s progress during Parent-Teacher Conferences on Thursday, October 24th from 1:15-7:00 PM. Each family is allotted one 15 minute time slot per child. If you haven't signed up for a conference, please contact your child's teacher.

Early Dismissal on Thursday, October 24th

On October 24th, the students will be dismissed from school at 12:00 (noon). The students will still eat lunch at school, and will be going home the way they usually do at the end of the day. Please call the office & send a note in your children's planner if they will be going home a different way on this day.

We are doing everything we can to keep our students safe regarding where they go at the end of the day. If you are changing where your child goes at the end of the day, please call our office before 10:30 AM and send a note in the planner. Thank you!

If you would like your child to have a snack at school, please send one. We are encouraging healthier eating. Fruits, vegetables, yogurt, and unsweetened cereal are encouraged for snack time. Unhealthy snacks such as candy, gum, pop are not allowed and cookies, doughnuts, pop tarts, fruits snacks, and chips are not encouraged. Special occasions such as classroom parties are exempt.

October is Bully Prevention Month. Throughout the month, we will be focusing on what it means to be a good friend and kindness. We will be covering the following topics:

Monday, Oct. 1st: Students will participate in a Chalk Talk activity where they write kindness messages on the sidewalks around the school.

Monday, Oct. 7th: What is Bullying?

Tuesday, Oct. 8th: When you see bullying, what can you do?

Wednesday, Oct. 9th: If you are being bullied, what can you do?

Thursday, Oct. 10th: Do you bully?

Friday, Oct. 11th: Be a Kid Against Bullying. All our students and staff will sign a pledge "To Be a Kid Against Bullying."

Our school Dean, Ms. Blad and Principal Aanerud will be doing a short presentation to all grade levels focusing on what it means to be a nice kid, the different kinds of bullying (cyber bullying for grades 3 & 4), what to do if see bullying, and what to do if you are bullied.

Our PTO will be sponsoring a Read-a-Thon fundraiser starting October 1st and running through Friday, October 11th. A parent letter outlining the details and a reading log was sent home on Friday, September 27th. There will be drawings for winning a book and we will have a Character Parade to celebrate the success of the fundraiser. Students can start thinking about their favorite book character! More information will be sent home about the parade closer to the date. Thank you for supporting our school!

Special Note: There has been a change in the date for the Character Parade. The parent letter says the Character Parade will be on Friday, October 11th. We changed the date to Wednesday, October 16th.

Our next PTO meeting is Monday, October 14th. All are welcome!

Common Sense Media is a website providing resources and recommendations for helping children have healthy, balanced, and safe experiences using technology. Parents can get aged based reviews and ratings for movies and series that their children are interested in watching.

Are you looking for an opportunity to help here at our school once in awhile? We have the perfect position for you! We could use help hanging up artwork in our hallways about once a month. Call the office you are interested!
