SUPERINTENDENT MESSAGE
Inspired by Christ on a Journey to Encounter, Nurture, and Serve.
Inspiré par Dieu dans une Aventure à Découvrir, Grandir, et Servir.
January 20 - 24, 2025
Good morning,
As we reflect on the journey of the pilgrim, we are reminded that a pilgrim represents someone on a meaningful quest—a journey that symbolizes life itself. It is a path where hope serves as a sustaining force, guiding us through challenges, uncertainties, and moments of despair. A pilgrim embarks with the belief that their destination, whether physical or spiritual, will bring renewal, redemption, and transformation.
Throughout this year, we have journeyed together in the true spirit of community, support, and shared purpose. By living out our faith, we’ve extended our care to others, especially the most vulnerable among us. This commitment has been profoundly evident in our many acts of service, such as feeding the hungry and fostering intergenerational connections through our involvement with the retirement communities of Villa Marie and Victoria Park.
We have created spaces of safety and support, offering listening and accompaniment to those navigating life’s challenges. Many have embraced opportunities for growth by participating in Bible studies, book clubs, and other gatherings that deepen understanding and build shared purpose.
As a community, we’ve also focused on transforming challenges into opportunities for growth. Together, we work to support mental health, build resilience, and develop strategies to help individuals and families face difficulties with renewed hope.
Through it all, we remain joyful on this journey, celebrating milestones, achievements, and expressions of gratitude within our families and our community. These moments affirm that the pilgrimage of hope is not one of isolation but a collective journey. It is lived out in the companionship of others, through acts of kindness, shared faith, and a steadfast commitment to renewal and transformation.
Blessings,
Kathleen Finnigan, Superintendent

This is the 5th year that SPARC’s Paint the Town Positive Winter Warm Up is taking place.
The Winter Warm Up event is an opportunity for our community to give back, by donating new mittens, toques and socks between January 13th to 25th to any Red Deer Public Library.
Local youth groups from Paint the Town Positive will create kindness messages to be attached to snacks, hot paws, and warm winter wear, which will be shared with those in need in the community. SPARC will be at the January 25th Red Deer Rebels game to share information about Positive Youth Development and collect donations.
