Keeping Up with Comm Arts
~ November 4, 2024 ~
Hello Comm Arts Family and Friends!
Everyone hopefully enjoyed their extra hour of sleep this weekend. Tuesday, November 5th, is Election Day. Since many schools serve as polling sites, November 5th is a student holiday. We hope students enjoyed their day.
It's already time for progress reports. Grades were uploaded on Friday, November 1st. Progress reports are available on HAC on Monday, November 4th.
Chromebook update 130 will be available beginning November 7th. Students, please restart your devices so the update can push through.
Thank you to all who paid for their AP exams. If you missed the deadline, payment must be submitted by November 14th, 11:59 pm. Once payment is received, an exam will be ordered. Any exams ordered after November 14th will include a $40 late fee.
The final day to schedule senior portraits with Prestige for our Yearbook is December 8th. Please make an appointment at the studio.
Election Day
Here are a few resources to prepare for the upcoming election.

We have two magnet fairs (one at the Northside Gym and the other at Paul Taylor Fieldhouse) in December. If you want to volunteer to help us recruit, please let me know and fill out a background check form below. It's from 6:30–8 pm on the 2nd and 9th. You mingle with curious parents of 8th graders and answer questions. We are also there as a backup. We like to bring parents familiar with our school to give their perspective to potential new candidates. We appreciate your consideration.

Counselors' Corner
CAHS students celebrated RRW with Harry Potter themes. On Halloween, CAHS counselors passed out Red Ribbon "Stay Drug-Free" red bracelets to students! CAHS students were appreciative and grateful for their RRW bracelets.
The counselors met with sophomores this past week during their AP World History classes. CAHS counselors gave students their current GPA, Rank, and a projection of courses they will take next year.
The Attitude of Gratitude
It can be challenging to think of things you are grateful for when everything in your life seems to be going wrong. Countless studies show that for many people, finding a bit of thankfulness each day can increase happiness levels and decrease depression. Developing an Attitude of Gratitude makes us feel more fulfilled and joyful each day.

Dual Credit Enrollment Process for 2024-25 (new students only)
The Dual Credit Program allows eligible students, grades 9-12, to take college-level courses at no cost and earn college credit through Northwest Vista College while concurrently enrolled in the equivalent high school course. Students can earn up to 42 college credits that may be transferred to Texas public colleges and universities and some private and out-of-state universities.
All students interested in the Dual Credit Program for the FIRST time next school year must complete the Dual Credit Interest Google form. This form will be shared soon. Completing this Google form does NOT qualify a student for dual credit enrollment but simply indicates an interest.
