MESSAGE FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT
Greetings MVCSD Community,
Happy Homecoming Week! Good luck to the Knights in your matchup against the Yonkers Force! The game this Saturday at Memorial Field serves as an opportunity for our alumni to come back and show their support for the current students within the District. I am hoping to see a large crowd of former students in the stands!
Our students are already excited for Homecoming, as evidenced by our Unified Pep Rally on Wednesday. With four high schools, uniting them for one pep rally each year is a wonderful way to bring them together. They danced, cheered and crowned two students from each school as the Homecoming Court in a fantastic celebration ahead of the game.
One of the alumni that I would like to highlight this week is my Executive Assistant, Lisa Autieri. She has been a part of the Mount Vernon City School District for decades, and she has done so much to support our scholars in a multitude of ways. Thank you for everything you do for the District and your continued work and contribution to our success!
Schools throughout the District have been opening their doors to parents for their meet and greets, and it is great to see parental involvement in our schools. At Denzel Washington School of the Arts, the turnout was fantastic! Thank you for showing up for your scholars, parents, and thank you to the DWSA faculty and staff for making yourselves available for families after hours!
Thank you as well to all of the families who came out to support their children at Graham School and participated in their reading challenge kick off! Literacy is one of the biggest components of a child's education, and it is so helpful to have families assisting their children on their educational journey.
Kindest Regards,
Dr. K. Veronica Smith
Acting Superintendent of Schools
MVCSD UNITES ALL FOUR HIGH SCHOOLS AT UNIFIED PEP RALLY
On Wednesday, October 2, 2024, the Mount Vernon High School gymnasium stands were packed with high school students from around the District, repping their school colors and Mount Vernon pride. Students from all four Mount Vernon City School District high schools joined forces for the afternoon's pep rally, getting hyped for the big Unified Homecoming Game on Saturday, October 5, at Memorial Field.
OUR STUDENTS NOW: EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT LISA AUTIERI
Lisa Autieri, a Class of 1984 Mount Vernon High School graduate, has spent her entire professional career working in the Mount Vernon City School District. After graduating from MVHS, she immediately began working with the District and continues to this day. She has held a number of positions throughout the District, and she has always stayed committed to supporting the schools in the city she grew up in. Now, she serves as the Executive Assistant to the Acting Superintendent and makes an impact through her role as one of the primary points of contact in the District.
