Notes from the Principal
The fundraising is in, the organizers had it well planned, the weather was amazing, all systems were go ... and our runners were awesome! What a great day, not just for the fun, the community building and fundraising, but also for teaching our students the power of perseverance. We encouraged and supported each student to cross the finish line, whether they ran or walked, to finish and enjoy the cheers! I cannot thank our PTO organizers enough for the massive amount of time and energy they put into this special event.
There are a number of important informational pieces for you to look at:
- The district is putting together another informational Master Planning and Visioning Night. Join our district leaders on October 15th for a presentation and discussion. This is really important for all elementary-aged parents!
- Our Superintendent, David Young, is sharing a letter on new state statutes on water testing and SBSD's proactive work.
See you at the PTO Meeting and next Friday is an In-Service Day - no school for students!
Happy Indigenous Day on Monday! Have a terrific weekend, take some time to read with your child.

Repeat Note from our School Counselors
We sometimes have students in need of good sneakers, either to keep or to use at school. If your family has any extras in sizes 2-9 (K-5) that are in good shape and which you are able to donate, we would welcome them. Please send them in a bag, attention guidance office. We are not planning a school-wide tag sale this year.
Thanks,
Auriel Gray and Aili Beeli
Thanks to Seacom.org for the generous donation of school supplies for students.

Join us for an Informational Night of Master Planning & Visioning
On October 15 at 7 pm in the SBHS library there will be the 2nd community input night on Master Planning and Visioning Concept 5, a new middle school, high school, and athletic center. We had a good turnout at the last forum, but we would love to see even more participation. It's a great, low key venue in which to ask questions about the design directly to the Dore and Whittier Architects!
People are encouraged to check out the master planning and visioning portion of the district website in advance to get a feel for what has been happening. Here is a link to the latest:
