Parent Newsletter
August 7

Dear Parents and Students,
I hope this message finds you well. As the principal of Irma Rangel Young Women’s Leadership School, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on the wonderful year we have had and express my gratitude for your support.
First and foremost, I want to congratulate our students on their hard work and achievements throughout the year. It has been a joy to witness their growth and development, both academically and personally. Your dedication and involvement in your child's education have played a significant role in their success, and for that, I am truly grateful.
As we approach the summer break, I understand that it is essential for our students to take a well-deserved rest from their studies. However, it is also an excellent opportunity for them to engage in meaningful projects that will prepare them for the upcoming year. To assist you with this, I would like to offer some ideas for summer projects that can enhance their learning:
1. Reading: Encourage your child to read books of their choice during the summer. Reading not only fosters a love for literature but also improves vocabulary and comprehension skills.
2. Writing: Encourage your child to keep a journal or write short stories during their free time. Writing helps develop creativity, critical thinking, and communication skills.
3. Math and Science Activities: Engage your child in hands-on math and science experiments. There are numerous online resources and DIY kits available that make learning these subjects fun and interactive.
4. Volunteering: Encourage your child to get involved in community service or volunteer work. This not only instills a sense of empathy and compassion but also provides valuable life experiences..
5. If your child is an incoming high school student or current, Mr. Aronhalt and Ms. Smith would like for your child to complete the following assignments on below flyer to help them be ready for next school year.
In addition to the summer projects, I want to remind you to check Remind often for updates regarding the beginning of the year items. We will be sharing important information about schedules, supply lists, and any other necessary details to ensure a smooth start to the new academic year.
Furthermore, please note that the newsletter link will be changing for the 2024-2025 year. We will provide you with the updated link as soon as it becomes available, so you can stay informed about the latest news and events at our school.
Lastly, I want to express my gratitude once again for your continuous support throughout the year. It is your partnership with us that makes our school community thrive. I am confident that with your ongoing involvement, we will have another great year ahead.
Wishing you and your family a restful and enjoyable summer!

Theatre Summer Opportunity for all Rangel Students
We have an exciting announcement to share from Mr. Stebleton, our Theatre teacher. This summer, Broadway Dallas is offering a free week-long camp exclusively for Rangel Middle School students centered around the musical "Hairspray." During this camp, students will learn a few of the songs and choreography, culminating in a performance at the end of the week. Following the performance, all participants and a guest will get to see the show at the Music Hall.
Mr. Stebleton, along with three guest teaching artists, will be there to guide and support the students. It's going to be an awesome experience!
There is room for up to 30 participants, and Mr. Stebleton’s students have already filled about 20 of the spots. We would love to offer this opportunity to other Rangel Middle School students to ensure we make the most of this fantastic experience. Please find more details in the attached flyer.
