Honoring Veterans Day
Roslyn Middle School celebrated Veterans Day on Thursday, November 7th. Students, faculty, administrators, and staff gathered in front of the school building for a patriotic assembly, welcoming more than a half dozen veterans. Principal Craig Johanson, along with Assistant Principals Justin Gabrus and Christopher Roth, led the event, which included a performance of Taps by student musicians, a reading of heartfelt letters to veterans, a visit from the Roslyn Fire Department.
East Hills Elementary School Principal Sherry Ma and Assistant Principal Jennifer Sheehan hosted an outdoor ceremony around the flagpole to celebrate three veterans. Faculty and students performed patriotic songs and listened as each veteran shared stories of their experiences in service.
Harbor Hill Elementary School students, faculty, administration, and staff gathered in the gymnasium to honor members of the Roslyn community who have served in the Armed Services of the United States. The first grade sang “This Land is your Land” and “You’re a Grand Old Flag.” A video tribute was also shared to recognize veterans that were unable to join in the ceremony.

Inside each bag were hand-colored cards, crafted by first-grade students, to wish the families a Happy Thanksgiving.
