Dear Franklin Parents/Guardians,

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to address a recent issue that has been affecting our school community. Unfortunately, we have been experiencing incidents of vandalism in the boys' bathroom, which is not only concerning but also disruptive to the positive learning environment we strive to maintain.

As a school, we take such matters seriously and are actively working with our teachers to investigate these incidents. However, we believe that addressing this issue requires a collective effort involving both the school and our wider community.

We kindly ask for your support in discussing the importance of maintaining a positive school environment with your child. Reminding them of the values of respect, responsibility, and consideration for others is crucial in fostering a culture where such behaviors are not tolerated.

Furthermore, please encourage your child to report any suspicious or concerning behavior they may witness to a teacher or school administrator. Your child's cooperation and vigilance can greatly assist us in identifying those responsible and preventing further incidents.

Together, we can reinforce the message that vandalism and disrespect for school property have no place in our community. By instilling these values in our children, we not only create a safer and more harmonious school environment but also equip them with essential life skills for their future.

Gate 2 will remain closed until further notice.

Demolition on the new UTK playground will begin soon and requires use of the gate throughout the day.

Drop Off:

• Please continue to use Gate 1 & the front doors

Dismissal:

• UTK-2 will dismiss through the Front Doors
• 3rd-5th will dismiss through Gate 1

San Diego Unified is partnering with the Padres for an exciting attendance campaign to raise awareness about the importance of regular school attendance.
The campaign includes an attendance challenge for elementary and UTK schools in March and April.

• Emphasis will be on elementary schools most impacted by absenteeism.

The Padres will offer up to 1,000 tickets for the Monday, May 27 Memorial Day game to the priority school that shows the most improvement in attendance in March and April. They will also offer a pair of tickets to the Monday, June 10 game to every elementary and UTK school that shows improvement via an opportunity drawing.

Join us in celebrating the staff members at the Franklin Elementary STEAM Magnet School and the measures they take to make sure our students are engaged, challenged and inspired every day! Our Backyard Birds and Climate Saturday, April 13th 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM at the Kensington-Normal Heights Library Park. This year, with support from the San Diego Audubon Society, neighborhood backyard birds are highlighted, their identification and support. Fun activities for all ages. Learn best practices for planting and tree care. Walk away with a FREE tree (by open drawing). Major sponsors include the Adams Avenue Business Association, Kensington Talmadge Business Association and the KenTal Community Association.

This year’s Earth Day welcomes newcomer exhibitors, the San Diego Audubon Society and City Farmers Nursery. Art FORM brings art education and environmental stewardship to this family friendly event. Please bring your own refillable water bottle - refills available! No single use plastic please!
